FELLAS I HAVE SOMEWHERE BETWEEN A 1964 AND 1967 BLUE FENDER MUSTANG MY DAD BOUGHT FOR ME NEW WAY BACK THEN. CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME DATE THIS GUITAR ? I would really appreciate any and all help. its is in 99%+ condition and all original. on the string tuner end it says
FENDER MUSTANG

OFFSET CONTOUR BODY

on the back where the neck attaches to the body theres a chrome plate with number 148721 and FENDER

on the chrome area where the strings attach in the blue body it says-
DYNAMIC FENDER VIBRATO
PAT. PEND.

I even have 3 picks that came with it that says fender, & yellow fender polishing cloth. i cant play anymore because of arthritus so i was considering selling it as i dont have any family to pass it on to. thanks again

According to the Fender Support website, http://www.fender.com/support/usa_instruments.php, a serial number in the 100,000's to 200,000's would be a 1966 to 1967.

Hello and welcome Bcowanwheels, although you didn't ask I figured that if you're planning on selling your Mustang you might need to know it's value, since it is in near mint condition and blue(That would be Lake Placid or Daphne Blue)she would be worth between $1750 and $1850 and you could possibly tack on a bit for the original goodies that came with it.I too suffer from arthritis but it only has deepened my resolve to keep playing. My rheumatologist has started me on injections of methotrexate and if that doesn't work he's going to try Humira,Enbrel or Remicade these meds are supposed to be very effective in reversing the ravages of arthritis. If you have a rheumatologist I suggest that you ask him/her about the option of using one of these drugs. The biggest drawback of these meds is that they are extremely expensive and you would need to have a good insurance plan to get them.At least one of these companies has a program that provides financial assistance to people who find the cost beyond their means so that route could be worth looking into.Good Luck.

guitslinger & OTHERS,
thanks for your help fellas i want to say thank you from my heart...... yes i,am going to let it go sometime soon. been waxing it up and thinking of all the memories with it. i learnned to play it playing "monkeys " songs. tells you i,am a old guy lol anyway is there any web sites i could post it on to sell it all as a package ? sure would make somebody a nice one. it only has 1 very tiny blemish on the back side corner about 1/8" max. all else is as new. as far as my arthritus the medicines they,ve offered me have bad side effects so i dont want to make matters worse useing them. they offered me pain medicine and i turnned them down also. they was amazed i didnt want them. they told me "everybody " wanted them except me. guess i,am just from the old school and want to keep a clear mind. the LORD will see me through it. I,d be glad to post some pictures but the site here didnt have the option for pictures. i,d be happy to email them to anybody. i also have a late 60,s GIBSON sunburst acoustic guitar I,am going to be selling also. i got it new also. looking back now wish I had played GOSPEL MUSIC rather than what i played. but hind site is alot clearer than forsite most of the time.
regards fellas
bob

Hi Bcowanwheels, the meds I suggested have proven to have very few minor side effects,I too am wary of that aspect of meds but I'm willing to put up with just about anything if it means being able to play music. There are many pain medications available today that don't cloud the mind or impair judgement,Tramacet being one,I am prescribed morphine to cope with the levels of pain I have and I am lucid at all times.I am deeply involved with people who suffer from chronic pain and am vice chair of an advocacy group for pain sufferers.A large part of our function is to dispell myths about pain and the meds used to treat it.You are not alone a lot of people suffer needlessly because they have a notion that pain meds cause impairment, that used to be the case but there have been vast improvements in pain meds and these days you can be virtually pain free and have a clear mind.I hope this info is of some help to you. There are a lot of sites on the net dealing with pain,it wouldn't hurt to look into some of them.Good Luck and God Bless.
