Hi

I have had this guitar since I was in 6th grade .. I am 52 ... I know huh? My parents bought it for me for christmas it was used .. but am sure of what it is. It is a 1959 fender musicmaster. Tan(dersert sand) body, white pick guard and brown cover over pick-up with rosewood neck. It also has the original case (tan with orange liner).

It's a nice little light weight and nice sounding guitar! I love it but have wondered about the money value of it. Would anyone happen to know it's value on the market today? Not selling just have allways wondered.

Thanks Jeanette

Okay, found one just like it but they won't let you copy... but I can post the link. Mine is just like the one on the left. If you go to different page go to year 59-64.

Hi Jeanette, welcome to the world of Fenderphiles, although your Musicmaster is over 50 yrs old and Strats etc. from that era are worth more than a lot of luxury cars the current value of your guitar only tops out at $2100 with the original case and accessaries it could be worth a bit more but not a lot.The Musicmaster and Duosonic were short scale student guitars and being such their value on the collectors market is relatively low.Having said all that it is a great little guitar and (I can't stress this enough)Don't do anything to change the original condition of the guitar.Once a guitar's finish or hardware has been altered in any way the value plummets, just keep it clean and change the strings or get the action or intonation set if need be but nothing else.Hang on to the sweet little thing because you never know but some day a major star will be seen playing one and there'll be a stampede for them and the price will go up over night, the market is funny like that. The Rickenbacker 325 and the Gretsch Tennesean and Country Gentleman are examples of that just because of their Beatle connection.Enjoy your little trophy,it's a keeper anyway.

Sorry Floyd you're wrong on that one ,the Duosonic had two pickups like the Mustang, hence the Duo prefix.Unlike the Mustang it didn't have a vibrato or the in/out of phase switches. The Duosonic had a toggle switch on the pickguard just below the neck on the bottom horn to change pups.

OOPS I forgot to add that the Duosonic II was made from 65-69 and had a long scale neck and only came in red, white and blue.

i had a 61 musicmaster. it was probably the easiest guitar to play that i ever touched. fortunately (or unfortunately) i got a strat in 64.

i sold the musicmaster on ebay a couple years back. it was pretty dinged up, but the neck was straight and it played well. with no case, i still got around 1000.00 for it.

you can keep watching ebay, or look at some auction sites, and get an idea what it's worth
