As soon as I first laid eyes on the Fender Mustangs/Jaguars in the hands of Kurt Cobain, I immediatley fell in love. Mustangs and Jaguars. My official favorite Fenders. Problem is, my left-handedness has cursed me from owning one that I can play. I realize that I could purchase a left-handed Mustang from eScam, but I have found a cheaper way around it. I have a Lefty Mexican Strat (Yes, I have sacrificed the V, but stay with me) for one purpose: To bum parts off of. Well, now, anyway. My idea is, and I've thought it all through so there shouldn't be any problems, to order me this: http://www.warmoth.com/guitar/bodies/vi ... on=jmaster (lefty of course) because it is now the only lefty one available, and this: http://www.warmoth.com/pickguards/pickg ... jazzmaster (lefty).

But that's not all.

You see, my Dad is a painter (painting house, with construction work, basically a carpentar without training) and he promised me he would paint the body for me and I have chosen either Sonic Blue or Surf Green as my finish.

This is where my Strat comes in.

I love it's punchy, fat sound and fast frets. I don't want to lose that. Especially when I just got it. So, once the body and Pguard arrive and it's all painted and purty, It and my Strat are going to the local Mom and Pop fender dealer to get the parts from my Strat put on my Jag/Jazz. I haven't quite decided how I want the controls set up yet, all I know is they will have to route it for a Strat jack on the body.

I know I'll keep the PUPs the same, and the knobs, I just dont know where I'll have the switch put. It'll probably be like the controls on the 2nd pic of the Pickguard.

Like I said I have measured the width and length of the Neck pocket (3 x 2 and 3/16) which matches my strat neck, there should be no problems at all, even if there are, me and my Dad are good friends with the guy that runs the store and will be working on it, so he will figure something out.

It should turn out pretty sweet!

Wish me luck!,

Perry

PS: I have a picture of my design and what it should look like when it is finished:

That's a pretty cool idea. As soon as I get the money/time, I'm gonna build a guitar I designed from scratch. Good luck and if you have any questions be sure to ask here.
