i saw this baby, saw the price and just couldn't say no. and to make it even sweeter, the idiot didn't even put "fender" in the ebay listing title so for all i know i could've been the only one to have seen it haha

apparently the ONLY thing that isn't original is the fact that he took it back to its original wood color and then put lacar over top of it. Pup's, neck, everything all original and in really good nick judging by all the pics.

question is... how much would this actually be worth?

Try checking out http://www.offsetguitars.com or shortscale for
more information on the cute '61, it looks like a wonderful project.

Depending on the condition and originality it "could" be a awesome
vintage collector. But, the finish is stripped and requiring a refinish
which decreases vintage guitar value no matter what condition.

Still, worth to ask as many guitar buffs as possible.

there are several ways to tell the value:

1-pick up a vintage guitar magazine - they often have a listing of values

2- keep watching e-bay since it is worldwide, you can get a rough idea.

i sold my old 61 musicmaster on ebay about a year ago, and got about 900 for it. it was the sunburst type finish, and had many dings in it. i don't know if stripping the paint away affects the value. the smarter folks on this site might know

Hi fenderpinky, that's a lucky find,as you say it's in good nick.Being a 61 it would have been originally Desert Sand or Sunburst and worth between $1,600&2,000 however the refinish would greatly reduce the value to probably 1/2 to 3/4 that.Having said that you have a great little guitar that's a great player given it's short scale neck.Happy pickin',

I sold my 76, all original but lots of dings for $415 a week ago.

Pick up a copy of the Official Vintage Guitar Magazine Price Guide, very useful.
