i recently bought a reissue really cheap a few days ago and the kid butchered the guitar. he carved out the body to hold humbuckers and its such a crappy job. would i be able to buy a new pick guard and just install single coil pickups again and have the pick guard hide the disaster? . please give me your feedback on this project of mine.[/b]

It depends. The way pickups mount on a Jaguar, are different than a Strat. On a Strat, they are suspended from the pickguard, on a Jaguar, they pretty much screw into the body. So the pickguard will show down to the mounting position of the pickup.

As long as it wasn't routed deeper, then you should be good to go. I would suggest placing one in the guitar, to check height. You may have to build it back up, to get proper height.

That's as much as I know about the matter. I hope it is usefull, i'm sure still lacking a lot of other information. But, I'm not a "guitar tech".

It can be fixed. You'll need to plug the holes with wood or something if necessary. But no, you cant just mount them from the pickguard. It won't show cosmetically.

If the kid actually routed deeper, just get longer mounting screws and extra foam under the pickup claws.
