Can anyone help me identify my 1985 Squier Bullet"1" by Fender? It is black, has a semi-Telecaster shaped body (sharper horn) with Stratocaster SSH pickup configuration, Strat five (5) way spring switch DM-50 made in Japan), Strat headstock but neck has Telecaster squared off/straight heel. The body is the heavy "laminated hardwood" (NOT plywood!!) and produces a fantastic "tone". Neck is flamed maple. The serial #E5051** should be 1985 construction though other than a small stylized "US" under the "Fender" tuning machines adn the aforementioned Japan made five way switch here are no other indications as to where this fine example of Fender engineering was made. Can anyone help?

I don't know if this guitar had any other designation other than "Bullet "1" so I need those here to assist me. I've seen only three others, two in black on ebay one of which had the neck glued into the pocket by a #*%^$@! and one repainted in white at another forum. None have been identified as anything other than Fender "Bullet 1".

I know there is a stigma against both Squier Bullets of any era and the "laminated hardwood" bodies but let me clarify something, these guitars are spectacular !!

I also own a '90 Squier II Stratocaster w/laminated hardwood body, SSH pickup configuration and that guitar is as good as or even better than my Fender Lead II. In addition I just bought a '87 Bullet with the smaller Stratocaster body of that era for a good friends nine year old son. That '87 "Bullet 1" is also fantastic, the pickups are to die for with tone well beyond what's available on Mexicopy model Fenders.

Please excuse the size of the pics/digital images as it;s late here on the East Coast and it's taken forever for me to get them uploaded to this site. Next time I'll go with "thumbnail images" I see are an option. I'm not gonna(sic) screw with these now that they're finaly posted.

So does this guitar have another designation/name/model other than Squier Bullet "1" by Fender? If so I would appreciate knowing what it is and please no crap about it being a Squier. I find Squiers a great buy with quality craftsmanship and I don't subscribe to headstock label snobbery.

I just logged on to this forum for the first time. I have the exact same guitar. It is significant in its build quality for certain. The sustain is perhaps as good as any guitar I have ever play (1000 or more).

It is nearly impossible for anyone to identify this instrument. I bought mine new in a guitar shop in southern Indiana just outside louisville. It was in a plastic bag... no box. It sat next to two other models (blue and white) also in plastic bags. It retailed for around $150.00 if memory serves. However, as you will attest, few guitars are more playable, share the same build quality or hold their tune better than this... even when really engaging the whammy. I have many guitars and have swapped my fair share... but I cannot and will not ever part with this one.

I have this same oddball Squier Bullet 1 in white...with a semi-tele body, strat neck, one humbucker, two single coil set up. My brother bought it in a pawn shop 15 years ago before he was killed. I kept it for memories sake but never played it because it had electronic problems, the action was 1/2 inch off the fretboard and...it said "Squier" on it. The other day I set my mind to setting it up and fixing the broken input circuit....damn thing ended up having as good or better tone and playability as my American Fenders and Gibsons. Crazy! I play blues and classic rock and I can honestly say this guitar is likely to replace my American strat as my main gig axe. If you run across one, buy it. It really is a bad $@! guitar!
