Thanks... she is has been with me for 30 of her 41 years. And she still plays as good as she looks.

Gave it to your son? You must really love him to do that. But I see you came to your senses. I'm glad yours is now safe and sound.... again.
Let me guess, he wanted a Strat.

Actually he was a big Nirvana fan. He found out Kirk Cobain played a Mustang, so I was the loving father and gave him mine. I got tried of seeing it on the floor in his room and took it back (tough love).

I do not like seeing guitars left on the floor like that--but some people don't get it.

Tough love was appropriate.
While guitars are tools, and to be used, the should not be purposely nor negligently abused.

Well Albert King dwarfed Flying V's, so who knows--but yeah--you have to play what fits you.

I have long fingers--so my reach is pretty good on a Mustang.

Here's a photo of my 1978 Mustang. I got this brand new with the case from the factory in Fullerton when I worked there.

Is it the light--or is that actually a black Mustang.
I don't recall seeing a black Mustang before--but I could be mistaken

Kind of cool.
I like seeing the wood grain, but I do like black guitars too.

It's an actual black Mustang. The wear marks on it are from actual use when I was a young man. It's the real road worn. If I could get it over again, I would have ordered it with a maple neck (you don't see many of those) even though I like the way the rosewood sounds. I wish I would have picked up a 50 watt twin with JBLs and a Telecaster (maybe a deluxe) back then also. CBS musical gave employees a 40% discount from list price back then. Come to think about it a Super Reverb and a Showman would have been sweet to have as well! Thanks for noticing my old beat up Mustang. They had them in Sunburst also like the first shot on this thread showed, as a matter of fact the knobs looked like the late 70s era.

That's cool.

Mine is the first Mustang in this thread, and it is also a 78, I bought it new a few years later at a moving sale. I'm glad it lasted that long before selling, and it was at a price that would have been right for a used one.

It's probably got the most dings in it of all my electrics-at least ones I inflicted on it.

I used it a lot when I taught, and that's where most of the dings come from.
