I finally have a picture uploaded I can share.
I'm not on my own computer, due to some computer issues, but this should work.

It's a 78 or 79 and is stock.
Although I am missing the screw that holds the vibrato bar on.
It fell out somewhere along the line, and I could never find it.

That Mustang is gorgeous! It looks like it's a lot of fun to play.

Looking at this makes me want a pre-cbs musicmaster or duosonic even more - the body shape is simply too hard to resist.

Thanks, it is a lot of fun to play.

(I'll have to check if any of my other pictures are clearer--I just noticed this one has some blurry spots.)

That guitar is beautiful.
Thanks for posting it.
I'm sure if you search around on the web you may find a replacement screw for the tremelo, (if you use the trem)
Angela.com
Allparts.com
Ebay.com.....etc.

Again very nice guitar!!! 8) :D :D

Very nice specimen!

I MIGHT have that set screw as I have some parts from a trashed '64 Mustang buried quite deep in my archives. So, if you cannot find one, let me know and I'll see what I can come up with. ConUS shipping only!

Thanks for the comments.

I've looked on line but never found the screw--I don't use the vibrato a lot, and even when I had the screw I often used the heel of my hand on the bridge.
I use it sparingly, but the screw would be nice to have.

And Martian thanks for the offer, but I am in Canada.

Thanks.

Apparently in the late 70's most were either sunburst or a semi transparent brown, and some were white.

At least as far as I've seen.

Most of the sunbursts seem to have the maple fingerboard.

Very nice! I had a '71 sunburst with the white pearloid guard that my local guitar store ordered direct from the old Fullerton factory. The headstock had a Competition Mustang decal on it. The assembler must have pulled the neck out of the wrong bin!

I miss it very much. Enjoy yours!

I love my Mustang, had it for years & years, and I have no plans to get rid of it.

There were a couple of times over the years I considered selling it, but then things improved, and I changed my mind and kept it. Sanity prevailed.

I know I'd miss it.

Nice looker ther Zontar.

Agreed. Mustangs are great guitars. I keep thinking about selling mine too. My wife (who isn't fond of my guitar affliction) is the one who keeps talking me out of it. She'll tell me to go play it, that usually cures the "selling" idea.

Hey, I just remembered, I was going to ask if anybody noticed anything odd about the volume & tone knobs--it's not real clear in the picture, but maybe somebody will notice.

Something's not quite right about them.

And keep in mind that Fender used the Strat style knobs on Mustangs at this time.

But take a close look at the knobs and see if you can make sense of what's written on them (The picture isn't clear enough to read, but if you look at them, you might be able to figure it out.)
