I've seen them go for anywhere from $900 to 1800.

I bought mine new in 1982(?) for $550. The sop was discontinuing all Fenders and said "Anything on the wall...$550", which included lots of standard models and one "Strat" in Candy Apple Red with maple fingerboard.

One "resale blue book" that I saw a few years ago listed them at about $1500+, but since they are increasingly (somewhat) rare, I think you'd have a real hard time finding one for under $2K. I have looked, but never found one for sale.

I switched out the lead pickup for a Dimarzio Yngwie Malmsteen stacked humbucker. That was a mistake, I don't like it. ow I can't find my original pickup. 8*(

PS. Here's a nice article I found:

I have one of these in the latter color code the put out, which I believe was called "arctic white" - it's funny because the thing looks yellow now...just aged in a strange way. i actually really dig the color it "became" and have a nice picture of the difference between the two from under-guard and up-top. No amount of cleaning will turn it back to the color it was. I am actually modifying mine at the moment because those pickups and wires are so old. Everything will stay the same but new Duncan pickups across the board and because of that color change, I shacked the original 'cream' pickguard for a tortoise shell - going to take all the hardware in to restore it at a jewelry repair shop (that is jewelry-grade 24k gold hot plating boys! and and Allan;

I wanted to let you know I have two of the original pickups and they are believed to be Neck and Bridge....don't have the middle pickup any longer. Not sure how they sound...probably not great. If anyone is interested. i will most likely not hang on to them. My guitars are for playing, not saving.
