I wouldn't call either one better than the other. They are two different guitars.

Try playing both and see what you like better. If you can.

Very different guitars. I prefer Jaguars, but that is because I like making all kinds of crazy effects with the switching.

The Jazzmaster is very cool too, very mellow.

But there a load of variations of each. A Jaggie special HH #$@*&!% screams, the JazzBlaster Jazzmaster has a warm as $@!& tone.

Hey Daniela, if you wanna learn more in depth information about the Jaguar and Jazzmaster visit www.offsetguitars.com. It's a forum dedicated to offset fenders and there's info available for just about every aspect of either guitar.

I prefer Jazzmasters for sound and Jaguars for looks. A hybrid would be nice.

Fender + EHX forever.

yea I would have if it was a stang or jag she was asking about.
I wouldn't want to subject her to some of the madness at ss.org until she's been around some of the tamer spots first.
;)

One of each. Single coils and original setup, all the way. Truly fine guitars.

I prefer the Jazzmaster for the warmer pickups and I like the switching system better.

Indeed. Great site and a wonderful place for information. (Even though I got banned from the place.)

Pick the Jaguar if you like a bright sound and the Jazzmaster if you go for a more mellow tone.I prefer the tonal variations of the Jag myself but having said that neither one is better than the other,it's just that one may be more suited to what you're playing.

The Jaguar and the Jassmaster are some what the same but the neck in the Jaguar is much shorter, I use the Jaguar because I like the sound and the looks but mostly because I have small hands and reaching for the seventh is much easer on the Jaguar.

I also have both guitars...

I had a 1963 Jazzmaster on owner.. I got it in 1979 I think for $250 bucks with ohc.. Played it for a long time sold it for $400. I didn't care for it as a player. But it was a cool guitar. Wish I had it now.. I had an L.P. then, now I play a Srat.. Just mho.. With that bridge if i hit the low E it would come off some times and I had to put it back on the bridge.. I would think the new ones are better.. Not all old guitars a good players..Mark
