my name is frankie. I have recently joined the fender website to recieve advice on my next guitar. I have been playing guitar for 6 years and currently own: a squire strat, a tockai les paul and an epiphone dot. I am now looking for my next guitar and am trying to decide between the fenders. I must say that i prefer the mustang looks wise however i would like to hear which one of; stratocaster, jaguar and mustang, is the best guitar. I am looking for the most versitile guitar possible which has a good neck, good pickups and just overall a great guitar.
please reply with your thoughts
thanks Frankydory

the jaguar is a great guitar and is versatile. but after reading further i can't see anyone telling you not to get a strat. everything you want and closer looking to a mustang than a jaguar.

stratocaster = versatility and more

edit:

k, lets rephrase here.

all three are sweet looking guitars.
all three are versatile in their own unique way.

i mean the mustang shines in its in/out of phase pups, the jaguar in its dual circuitry. but the stratocaster is unique in a sense that it is SO customizable. you can pretty well do anything with it, probably why it is the icon that it is.

bottom line.

there is a strat for anyone/everyone out there. it all comes down to preference though. go try em out.

Strats are versatile, they're also boring and everyone and their sister has one. I've had strats, just can't get along with them. The vibrato is also pretty useless, even when set up correctly. I'll probably get flamed for saying that, but hey it's just an opinion.

Of the other two, the Jaguar is definitely the more versatile model, IMO.
Mustangs are awesome too, but you don't get as much variety from them.

I use a telecaster, a jazzmaster and a jaguar. For me, these 3 are the perfect fender mix.

I do want a mustang though. They're very comfortable guitars and they're fun as hell to play.

I'm not a mustang fan. They're neat instruments but definitley not as versatile as the others. But they were designed as beginners' instruments so they can't be expected to be.

Welcome!

Even though it has been said that everyone and their mother has a Strat, that should tell you something right there as it is the most versatile and comfortable guitar on the planet!

As the owner of a Mustang,Jag,Tele and Strats I'd have to say that the Strat has the broadest sound spectrum, that being said, the Jag and Mustang both have their merits and are capable of a broad range of sounds they also have shorter scale necks that are great for people with smaller hands.I guess it comes down to which guitar is best suited to the genres of music you play.
