Hi I have a very nice 78 musicmaster, and the tone controle always acted kinda funny. every time I try to role the tone off the pickup just starts to sound more thin and anemec and by the time I role it all off the pickup just basically goes dead quite.I had her rewired at least two or three times now and it's getting frustrating. The pickups is originale but in very good shape, and when I put a couple strat pups in her she didn't have this issue. I've looked at the wiring diagram and evrything is followed to the tee.I know that this guitar is essentialy wired like the old lapsteels. To my knowlage a tone controle is just supposed to role treble on and off not shut the pup off altogather. Has anybody els had this issue and if so what did you do?

Welcome.

First, make sure that the pots and output jack are all grounded with more than just the foil of the pickguard. If this does not solve your problem, replace the capacitor.
