The one I installed says Fender Lace Sensor. I am surprised yours only has 2 wires. In that case you would solder the orange to the pup selector and the white to the ground assuming you have another wire leading to the vol pot. Yeah, the MIJ does not have the 3rd hole for the string mute. It performs fine w/out. Besides, I put the TOM style bridge back on.

Smaller screws is definitely the way to go here.

The PG is stock. MIJs are a liitle different in a lot of ways. It is a red TS. I am thinking about getting a black one. I have seen those on ebay as well as the red TS.

The neck pup is actually covered w/ electrical tape. I cut holes out to expose the magnets. I did that when I bought the guitar back in '96. I was 15 at the time. Now I think an actual black cover is available.

Post some pix of the wiring if you are able.

Update:

I have searched everywhere I can think of for the screws with no luck so far.

The screws I need are wood, or metal, # 2 X 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inch long screws. I need four of them (two for each pickup).

If anyone knows where I might these - would you please post where?

The project is on hold until I get the screws. :?

Nope .... those two were the first, then Ace Hardware and another local hardware, then a place called Fastenal that just handles fasteners.

I also checked some on-line hobby stores that usually carry the really small hardware like that.

I did a search on the Internet and still came up empty.

The problem seems to be the length. The ones that had #2 screws didn't have them in the length I need - just shorter screws.

Might want to try guitar store. Seems odd that screws are not available.

Hey... =(

Can you help me out?
I'd like to play the Jag pretty distorted, but there comes this "microphonic feedback"! I mean, not that normal / the "good" feedback, but this ugly squeaking stuff!!
the Neck PU is fine, but the bridge PU is just impossibly squeaking! I did wax it, but it didn't help =(

Oh man, anyone got a hint? i don't wanna put in a new PU (especially because of these awesome looking claws ;-) )

HELP!

What kind of amp/distortion are you playing through? Might be that you have your gain setting too high.

of course i play it high gain, that's the sound i want!
my other guitars (72 tele thinline, customized squier tele, ibanez fat-strat-copy) work fine with any gain level (only the normal feedback appears)

however, after letting the PUs cool down completely, the microphonic feedback was definitely reduced a lot, but there's still some.... (i waxed them this afternoon, let them cool so the metal parts - mainly the claws - were cold again, soldered them into the the jag and started playing; i was devastated hearing the squak, put it aside, posted here in the forum and a few hours later, the wax was really solid.... i was a little impatient)

oh, btw:
Does your pickguard fit properly?? mine is not exactly what i call "good", it's not been cut very well... i think i need to work on it...

GOSH, this ist the "BUGGIEST" guitar i've EVER HAD!
work on the saddles, pickguard, pickups,... what's left to come?!
- still, i love it, the feel, the sound....

Seriously, You might want to either consider changing the pick up or cutting back on the gain. My PG fits fine as you can see in the pix.

What do you mean wax? I ask cuz I've never heard of this being done. What is the process?

ok, wrong expression! it's called potting ^^
{if you don't know what that is:
melting wax (= paraffin; you should add 10-20% bee way, i didn't, just took a candle) in a double-boiler (simply a pot with water to heat a bowl with the paraffin in it) and then putting the PU in it until there are no bubbles coming up anymore (took me ~10min) and then letting it cool.... [details?] }

i need to reduce the volume a little and then the microphonic feedback stops...
i am SOMEWHAT impatient, phew, there's a solution to almost everything, just don't panic ^^

to the PG:
i mean it does fit finally, but not 100% properly. it needs to be pushed quite a lot ( i actually screwed it on first and then i put the chrome-control-parts on, otherwise it wouldn't have worked :( )

anyone got expieriences with a buzzstop? is it worth to buy? ( here it costs 56€ wich is about 80US$ ! )

Wow. I have never heard of that process before. Sounds complicated.

There is a simple, and very cheap, solution to the buzz stop. I actually fitted some kind of foam strips on the bridge plate under the strings. Cut a strip from a mouse pad or something like that material. If you look back in the pictures of this thread, it's the black strip you see.

haha, i thought of that, too, some time ago, so i also put a foam-stripe underneath the strings!

but i meant more of that effect with the string angle on the bridge...
however, i turned the trem-lock adjustment screw clockwise as far as possible. the Jaguar now has become a hard-tail^^ and i actually never had issues with strings popping out of the saddles, except for low e, but i fixed that also...
(too bad, i've ordered a set of "graphtech Tusq saddles for J-master", which are actually adjustable mustang saddles made of that new material called tusq... i've heard they would not fit properly - too late - so that they can move about (left-right) because they are not wide enough... dumbass guys from graphtech actually did take the measurements from some japanese reissue mustangs, which have a different spacing...)

btw: how do i know what... strenght? /thickness? [ aah, you know what i mean ;) ] my strings have?
i mean i got the jag as a present and i was told the guitar tech restrung it (definitely visible^^), but i don't know what ind of strings they are now...

potting:
easy as can be! i thought it would be hard to do, but it's no problem at all!
only "mistake" i did, that caused a little inconvinience:
i used a metal bowl to melt the candle... METAL bowl + MAGNETIC PU... get it?

I'm going to get the same saddles.

Some pros can kind of eye-ball and figure out which gauge your strings are. Are they comfortable for you? Do you like the tone? That's what matters. Personally, I use Ernie Ball Regular Slinkies (10-46) on most of my guitars.

well, but if i like the tone, tenn i will want to have the same stings again, but i don't know which ones they are ! :D
they aren't really thick neither really thin... either 009 or 010. is only d'addario using the color-code-system? they definitley look like d'addario 009 or 010
i'll try it with an electric measure-thingy later...

personally, i like the D'addario 09-42 (EXL 120), though at the moment i have some cheapos on most of my guitars...

Yeah, to my knowledge, D'addario is the only company to color code the strings.
