The Duo was a great guitar for youngsters, beginners and we diminutives alike. I've been looking for an all-original in Desert Sand with a gorgeous worn gold anodised scratchplate and maple neck for years, but they are hard to find in the UK and when they do appear you are asked to pay silly money (on one occasion I was asked for £2,000/$4,000 for a model with new frets, pots and refinished body!). I have an MiM reissue in (Torino?) Red which is lovely, but the hardware is poor and it goes right out of tune if you walk past it. More eye candy than a working guitar.

It's about time that Fender produced a modern-quality reissue of the 50s original! Bring back the sand, gold and maple! ;0)

Huzzah!

I'd absolutely love a duo-sonic reissue- don't get me wrong, I love my Mustang but I never touch the vibrato and string breakage with a floating bridge makes me :(

i just bought a '50s duo-sonic, with a '60s neck. the original finish is gone, but it was super cheap.
it would be nice to see a reissue of a 50s duo-sonic.

Just listed on Ebay is a 56 Duo with late-60s pickups dropped in, new pots and body refinished in red. Some dude wants £1,000/$2,000! Two weeks ago a US seller sold an all original example for £750/$1,500. UK sellers are greedy.

I'll offer him £500, take it or leave it.

no, he's talking US dollars. either way, it doesn't matter both the pound and the euro are worth more than the dollar. it's still way too much money.

Yes, my figures are in Pound Sterling and US Dollars. At the moment there are about two dollars to the pound.

UK guitarists pay a fortune for vintage instruments. The all original Duo sold by a US seller was expensive, yes, but it was a good example of a 56; the UK seller is selling the "same" guitar but resprayed and full of replacement parts - and is asking 30% more!
