I was just wondering if anyone has ever used an Esquire for slide? I wonder what kind of tones you could get out of it considering the wiring it has. Might be pretty good?

I am thinking about getting a guitar strictly for slide work, and I have never really seen anyone use an Esquire for slide.

Search YouTube for a better idea of the sound. Kind of like Jeff Healey and Johnny Winter meets Nils Lofgren.

I used to use one years ago and it did the job just fine.

For my stylings, having the toggle in the first position was sheer mud. In the third position, it was way to screechy. I always had it set in the middle as I am one of the (apparent) few who actually use their tone pot(s) from time to time.

It should be noted that this was a Pre-CBS Esquire with an Ash body and of course, the OEM pickup. The closest modern day comparison I could make pickup wise would be that of a Duncan Broadcaster. YMMV.

For my esquire with Duncan Broadcaster pick up I use the ashtray bridge cover when I use slide and get some nice tones.

You use the bridge cover for a slide or just keep it on while playing?
