The question I'd like to see answered isn't "Will the Jag-Stang be re-issued?" They've done it before and made a few bucks off of that model, so it's possibe that they would re-release it yet again.

The question, in my opinion, should be: "Will Fender re-release the Jag-Stang adhearing to the original design request set forth by Kurt Cobain himself?" Although I own a Jag-Stang (that is the only one of my 11 guitars that I have in a glass display in my studio), the hardware and electronics for the past mass production have been the cheapest that Fender could put into it. Not saying it's not a good guitar by any means...but it certainly was not made the way Kurt had invisioned it.

I own 7 Fenders, and this post is not meant to slam Fender or their decision to make the Jag-Stang in the form that they did...However, I would personally like to see them revisit the guitar and put some good "stuff" into it, and not concern themselves with this driving the selling price up for consumers. Limited edition, baby!

Go and check out a Don Grosh Electrajet. One of those with HBs is closer to what I think Cobain envisioned in his guitar.

Fender did pretty well everything Kurt asked... Kurt drew up the plans. They EVEN forgot the forearm cutout, which Kurt forgot aswell.

There is nothing "Mustang" about that guitar....(electrajet) http://www.groshguitars.com/products/el ... t/ejet.htm

And it's also more Jazzmaster than Jaguar.

I went ahead and looked at the electrajet again, please enlighten me to what I may have missed. All I see is Stratocaster mixed with Jazzmaster and a Tele cable jack. A very nice fusion of guitars.

the hardware is the cheapest they could've put on it? wtf.

the bridge and trem unit are both japanese mustang pieces, both still in production today, both of a very high quality/finish.

the tuners are the same as above.

the pickups may be lackluster, and it may be lacking contours, but it's essentially what he 'envisioned.'

i'm sure they one they built for him was a little more to spec, but it used all the same hardware.

also: that grosh guitar is hideous. kurt might've played it, but i think he hated strat trems, and it has p90's.

fender will never re-issue the jagstang. go make your own from warmoth.

Go to ebay see if you can pick one up there.
You will probably pay upwards of $650+.

Re-issue the Jagstang?

Let's hope not. It looks like a Fender that someone left too long in a microwave.

Perhaps I'm just too old these days - I never got it..
