Im looking to buy an electric- acoustic guitar... and fender is not my first choice... I do like the california series. But the electracoustic guitars here on the site look weird! the strat-styled acoustic? how can that be good for the acoustics of the sound? am i the only one who thinks that the sound will get caught in the pockets of the strat-styled body? and by pockets, i mean the "double-cutaway" part, not the pickup holes, usually called pockets...

im thinking about buying an Ovation... i like the idea of a plastic body, but then again, i am a wood loving girl...

opinions?

i like my takamini ef341sc acoustic electric and find that the tone is really good, sort of middle of the road and the action on the neck is pretty good it takes a little effort to push down the strings. the built in tuner helps for quick tuning and the eq is easy to work with.

I've tried the California series Sonoran, and I liked what I heard from it. My opinion is somewhat less than what it should be, though, since I didn't plug it in, but I thought it sounded good acoustically.

Mary,

I have a Stratacoustic. When I first picked it up to play, unplugged, it sounded....well, not good.....but something told me to go ahead and plug it in. So, playing through a Fishman amp, a Roland Chorus amp, and a Fender Acoustisonic amp, the sound was awesome. I bought it and changed the strings from acoustic strings to electric strings, currently 10's, and think I may pick up another one and have them strung totally different from each other.

Any time you are looking for an acoustic/electric, you must play it plugged in. I have tried a Taylor, beautiful sound unplugged, but didn't like it thru the amp.

Trust your ears, as well as your eyes, and your own sound will come thru....

I recently bought a Stratacoustic didn't plug it in but thought, what the heck for the price can always give it to a kid just starting. When I got over to the studio I plugged it into my 1982 Bassman 20 (great amp Art Revera had it down!) I have loaded with an emmenence 151-1518 guitar speaker and my holygrail reverb pedal and was quite surprised! The sound was big and warm along with the bolt on neck and EQ it impressed me , think I'll keep it !! Besides it is a great conversation item! another addition to go along with my telle's and paul's....... 8)
