I play mine quite often, it's so much lighter than my Strat. The Out of Phase pickup switch is an interesting concept as well, sounds pretty groovy.

Is there any reason I should not to put #8 gauge strings on this guitar?
The guitar is having the intonation being done today and I was questioned about the string size. Just wondering if these strings are going to be to light. As noted I'm just a hobbyist and not sure if the string size has that much bearing on the sound. I know it does on the feel of the action on the neck, or at least it use to years ago when she was played on a some what regular basis.

Typically, they do sound better with heavier gauge, since your guitar is already being worked on, it might be a good time to put the heaviest gauge strings your fingers can handle.

In my own personal opinion I think all guitars sound better with heavier gauge strings. However the limitation lies in your fingers being able to endure the pain associated with it. And of course the neck will need the relief adjusted.
