I bought the dg 200 sce at Guitar Center after christmas 2008 because it sounded much better then others in the same price range or even higher priced.

I have searched all over the net and can not find more info on this guitar. I believe that it might be made for Guitar Center exclusive. They were the only place that I had seen this guitar.

I got the same guitar. I was a little concerned when I got hoe after spending $399 and could not find any reviews or info online or in Fender catalogs.

I do enjoy the sound but some info on it like a name or category would be nice.

Hey guys,

I'm responding here to congratulate you all (including myself) on the purchase of our DG200SCE acoustic guitars. Just like you, I played this guitar one time and I was so amazed that I bought it on the spot. What is even more remarkable about it is the following:

The DG200SCE is the twin sister to the GA-43SCE. The Fender GA-43SCE is the Grand Auditorium and it is a professional/performance guitar that sells for over $1000. Recently, the GA-43SCE has been selling for $699 to diminish retailer stock of this superb guitar. When the GA-43SCE did not dominate the general market due to its pricing, it was such a wonderful instrument that Fender refused to abandon its design (this is what I love about Fender). So, what did Fender do? They proudly continued its production by inventing the DG200SCE as part of the GA assembly line. Even more brilliant, they made the wise decision to price the DG more in line with the comman man's wallet.

What does this mean for us? It means that we just purchased one of the best acoustic guitars Fender has ever made for the affordable price of only $399 !!! For you GA-43SCE owners out there, don't be offended. I'm not saying that our DG is the EXACT same as your GA (Grand Auditorium). But, by God, for guys like us it is close enough !!! :D

Thanks Fender!!!

A guitar pro friend of mine just informed me that the GA-45SCE has often been compared to Martin, Taylor etc... in sound and quality. The GA-45SCE typically sold for around $750 but it has been SOLD OUT in most guitar stores across the country. My buddy qualified that he considered the GA-43SCE and the GA-45SCE to be the true 'twin sisters' in the Fender line. With the GA-43SCE being the more expensive of the two.

What is most remarkable (he admits) is that the DG200SCE, with its gold tuners and Fishman amp/tuner is almost identical to the GA-45SCE in its features... while standing shoulder to shoulder with both the GA-43 and the GA-45 in sound and feel.

I think the DG200 may be one of the best kept secrets in the acoustic guitar industry at present. Somebody at Fender is REALLY proud of this design... and rightfully so. In answer to the previous quesion about Fender not advertising or posting information on the DG200; I might suggest a review of the GA-45SCE & GA-43SCE to be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks again Fender!!!

Does anyone know how many pieces the back is? Mine has 2 visible seams on the inside back of the guitar on each side. It seems that it's either a perfectly straight crack, or it's just made from several pieces. :?

I'm glad I found this thread! I bought the same guitar from Guitar Center, and was wondering why I couldn't find any info about it on Fender's site.

Someone is selling one of those for $240 and I wonder if it's worth it. Seller claims is in mint condition. What do you guys think?

My son and I were at GC a few weeks ago to get an electric pick up added to an old Yamaha acoustic. As we waited our turn at the repair counter, I noticed a DG-200SCE with a clearance tag. It had a small gouge in the face of the guitar, but being a weekend wood worker, I recognized that it could be repaired with little effort. The price was marked $190. We traded in his Yamaha acoustic and got the DG-200SCE for $150. Brand New!! My son loves it's crisp sound and doesn't want to put it down. Look for upcoming YouTube videos.

I just picked one up at my local Guitar Center On Sale for $344.99 Reg. $399.99

However they applied the Black Friday discounts and it came to $313.85. It sounded better than any of the <$500 guitars in the first room and as good as most of the <$1000 guitars in the second golden room.

I played it through a Fishman Acoustic Amp (Mini) 60 which I had for an old Celebrity Ovation that I just sold.

As soon as I got home and plugged in it sounded 10x better then the Ovation and almost as good as my sons $1200 Taylor cutaway. I think this guitar has a slightly better pick up than the Taylor 300 Series, as it sounds way better than his plugged in. Unreal for the price.

CD-230SCE OMG is this is the DG200SCE

I can see no difference with the 2 models in a side by side except the tag on the interior they play and sound the same. My Neighbor stopped by to see my new purchase and raced home to retrieve his CD-230SCE Explain? in the end there was about a $200 difference in price as the 230 lists for $600 to $700. One has a spruce top and one has ceder My guess is that the back on mine is a laminated 2 part back. Although from sound and play perspective they don't seem very differnet.

Bottom line we are both 20 year guitarists on a budget adn choose the Fenders over Martins and Taylors in the $500 to $999 range.
