They already made the Epi Coronet-style MIM FSR Rattlecan Junior.

pawnshop series might be closest you get...

couldn't really say the Cyclone was a 'new model', it was really just an easier-to-swallow Jag-Stang at heart. the Cyclone-II, however (with the jaguar pickups), was approaching something new... but it's still clearly just a Mustang body with Strat hardware and Jaguar electronics.

the pawnshop '51 and '72 approach 'new' territory a bit more than that setup does :P

The new Marauder is mostly a new design.

But to me, nothing beats a Strat. I love that design to bits. Fender already has a lot of great designs, there's not much need for more.

If anything, I think it'd be cool if they brought back some out-of-production guitars. I'd LOVE to see the Fender Performer (guitar and bass) design come back. The only thing with that is, it'd be so over-priced most likely, lol.

Probably not necessary -- the Telecaster is the perfect guitar.

Fixed for obvious reasons.

On topic: Fender is doing all kinds of innovating via Squier and some of the signature models like the Johnny Marr Jag and the Kurt Cobain Mustang. What else does Fender need to do? Make a non-12 tone guitar with a Facebook connection?
