Ive found a pic of the sunburst toronado at last. Im trying to find out some info on this guitar. I purchased the sunburst toronado years ago. Are they rare? And whats it's value? There just doesn't seem to be any info out there. Cheers iggy.

Hey I remember these from OSG. I really like the Red one with the Black Dove pickups. Reminds me of the Tele-Sonic, sans DeArmonds.
I also like the orange one. Orange only works with a few guitars, the toronado being one of them.

Toronado's are $@!&. It, the Cyclone and StratoSonic DV2 were excellent guitars and really should have gotten more respect and success. Great new designs.

Hello Trustee,

Great collection you've amassed.

Which one is the best player?

Cheers.

With the American's I was once told that the red ones had hums and the blonds had P90's but that was shattered. Here's my P90 version.

Bill, thanks for the comment! Sorry on the late response but been busy w/ school and such. All of them play really well but If I had to pick one it would be the wraptail MIA. I can get the action as low as I want it and rest my palm on the bridge nicely. All around great guitars and yes! the sunburst one is pretty rare these days.

All the best...

Agreed about the orange.
Personally, I think that the black/tort Toronado is one of the most aesthetically pleasing guitars of all time.

Hi Y'all

This is a good occasion to show you my own Toronado.
It's fairly mint and it sounds just great.
Cheers.

Just thought I'd point out to the OP that your sunburst 98 Toronado has an Alder body with Ash veneer, not Poplar. All '98s have Alder bodies according to the guy at Fender I talked to about my sunburst '98.

Regardless, beautiful guitar and it looks alot like my pride and joy.

Toronado question here:

I have an American Deluxe model in butterscortch blond.

I'd like to replace the stock pick guard with the larger pickguard that comes stock on the M.I.M. models.

Is the countour of the face of an M.I.A. Toronado the same as it is on the M.I.M. ones? In other words, can I simply 'transplant' the larger M.I.M model pickguard onto my M.I.A model? (Granted, I'd have to drill some new holes for the screws...)

Any advice/input/assistance is greatly appreciated!

Rock on!
