I recently took some shots of the Toronados for my friends at the Offset Guitar Forum. I thought I would share them with all of you here as well. Goal was to collect one from each period of its ORIGINAL six year Mexican-American run. Here are some specs and the family:

Mexican models:
98 Fender Deluxe Series Toronado - Brown Sunburst w/ Maple Veneered Top on Poplar. (double zebras under the covers)
00 Fender Deluxe Series Toronado - Orange on Poplar. (double blacks under the covers)

American models:
02 Fender American Deluxe Toronado HH - Butterscotch Blonde on Alder.
04 Fender American Special Toronado DE9000 - Crimson Red Transparent on Ash.

* Note I'm testing strings/setting up the AM blonde one right now hence missing strings and the burst toro was in the process of getting back its original oversized Fender strap buttons.

I see you don't have a Korean Fender Toronado GT in your collection - the recent ones with the Seymour Duncan P/ups and go faster stripes.. Can't decide if I love mine or if I should get it re-finished.

Nice to see so many Toronados in one place!

adey - no offense but the later mexican models and the korean GT models were poorly made guitars in my opinion...otherwise I would have an example of each...the SD pickups were the only selling point in the GT and I couldnt get away from the paint job and the colors offered, not to mention 14 lb mahogany bodies... 2005+ MIMs felt like they were rushed together...sloppy neck joints bad qc, etc...the ones I played anyways...the original MIM is the most desirable one now next to the short run MIAs...

LOL. No offence taken trustee. I bought mine cos it was half price and cos it had the SD SH1n and SH14 pickups. Thought I could live with the metallic green cover (inc the headstock face) and the black racing stripes.. As it rarely gets played, guess maybe I can't live with it. I'm thinking seriously about a refin and having the small style scratchplate made up and fitted.

It is well made tho and with that solid mahogany body it's seriously sturdy. All that body is very obvious in the sound too - this is not a guitar with a sparkling top end!

Enjoy your collection..
