Hello my name is mark and im new here. a little about myself

I'm 23 years old and Ive been playing for about 5 years now, played drums for over 10 years, but been playing guitar more than drums these days. I own a US strat, an ovation acoustic, and a Fender Toronado (deluxe series) which was actually my first guitar. Also just got a sweet 1979 Mustang Bass, and recently got this 1969 mustang as my vintage guitar project.

Here's the number on the back plate>
244657

Its in pretty rough shape but does have a very straight neck, however someone put some grover tuners in it and drilled the holes bigger in the headstock which caused it to crack. I plan to repair it at the bodyshop i work in and paint the front of the headstock. I also plan to give this guitar a complete overhaul and i needed some answers to alot of questions i have and maybe some of you guys can help me. Here's the pictures>

And here's the questions i have>
1. On the headstock the Fender logo is CARVED into the headstock. It doesnt look original, but i wanted to ask just to make sure before i fill it in and get a new decal on it.
2. Is the gold flat bridge base plate original?? Wasnt sure because i was going to take it out to paint it and i just wanna make sure its supposed to have that groove cut in it where the plate sits. Also does the bridge screw into this piece??
3. Anything else look weird?? This is my first vintage guitar and any tips on restoring it would be great!
4. It has a seymour duncan pickup in it, anyone know if this particular pickup is any good?
5. Im not looking to restore it to original, and i actually wanna make it a player, so any idea on some good pickups to get for this guitar to give it a good bit of crunch. I play hard rock, punk, reggae, a little bit of everything so something univeral tat sounds good and fits good and looks good in it.
6. Is the Bridge original?? i thought the 69 had one of those roller bridges?
7. Anyway to tell the original color of it?? by the back plate number etc.?

I have a buddy who actually build guitars and is gonna help me get new frets in the neck, mess with all the intonation and get it all sweet. Fortunately i work at an autobody shop so paint and cosmetic fxes wont be an issue.

Looks like a cool project.
Here's some responses to some of your questions--hopefully others will have more answers as well.

1--I doubt the carved logo is original--looks pretty rough too.
2--That bridge is nothing like a Mustang bridge--there is also a very distinct routing on a Mustang--it looks nothing like that body--maybe this was a Duo-Sonic, or something else? Maybe it was routed out more and then filled in?

Here's a link that shows Mustang & Musicmaster bodies-

Maybe that will help.

4-Seymour Duncan makes some great pickups--whether this would a good one for you depends on what you want. They make a few varieties that look like that one I'd give it a try if it's in good shape.

6-That's definitely not an original Mustang bridge.

Keep us posted.

I wonder if the neck is original? because its dated 1969 but i thought the musicmaster and duo sonic was before that?
