i was wondering what the people who have jaguars think about the cij jaguar and i'm GASing for an old lake placid blue. i've heard that there are a lot of problems with it such as the bridge and buzz problem. i've also heard that it's not a good idea to strum them hard. because i just kinda discovered the jaguar and i can't afford the avri right now so i wanted to know the quality of the cij jag. do you think it's better to wait until i can afford a avri? also i heard the stock pups on the cij are low quality (is that true?) so how do i go about finding a nice pair of pups (and please don't say evilbay). and any other info and pics would be nice.

what are your guy's experiences with ishibashi like? do you recommend them.

do you think the cij is a better choice than a highway one strat?

where would i be able to try a jag out?

i've got a CIJ jaguar and i love it. the build quality is very good. much better than the highway one series and on par with the AVRIs.

mine doesn't have any of the problems you mentioned. it has absolutely no buzz, the bridge works fine, you can strum it as much as you want, and the pickups are great once you waxpot them.
you can get AVRI pickups which are slightly better than the japanese ones at various online stores for about $50 a piece.
i've never actually bought from ishibashi, but i have e-mailed them before and they are very helpful.

since no one stocks them anymore (at least here in the states), your best bet would be a store that sells second-hand gear. i've seen a few japanese jaguars and jazzmasters at some local shops here.

Its a great guitar. I've had mine almost a year and nothings gone wrong with it. No complaints. I play it all the time. I still need to get my hands on an AVRI Jag to see how much different they are. I know Seymour Duncan makes pickups specifically for Jaguars. You might want to take a look at those.

The CIJ guitars are very high quality. Their just as good as their American counterparts.

melt 80% parrafin wax and 20% beeswax together and submerge the pickup until bubbles stop coming out of it. it usually takes about 20 minutes per pickup.
just be sure to use an electric oven and a double boiler so you don't catch the house on fire.
