..So has anyone seen one of these? What are your thoughts on them? I saw one at a music shop the other day and couldn't resist playing it. It's MIJ but played very nicely, not to mention how amazing it looks up close.

I darn near almost bought the thing, and I'm not even looking for another guitar. I may have to go back soon though..

I played a used one at Guitar Center several months ago, and I loved it. Unfortunately, I didn't think I could pull off the metallic purple look. So I went with a Classic Player Jazzmaster instead (which I also love).

I think the pickups are the only thing (slightly) different from the AVRI '62 Jazzmaster, other than the country of origin. Otherwise, it's just a Jazzmaster modeled after what J Mascis plays. As to not being able to pull off the purple guitar thing, that's the same reason I passed on a used Gretsch Synchromatic Junior Jet last year; and I'm one that has a weakness for guitars having a single pickup at the bridge.

Ah, as for the purple look - I'm a 20 year old university student. Playing for the younger crowd is what I do

I currently own an Am Deluxe Tele, so really I'm set - but this guitar just seems like it'd be another formidable gig axe. It simply screams stage presence

I have a JMJM.I think the pickups are pretty close in sound to the pickups on the AVRI JM.The only I don't like on the JM Jazzy is that the trem arm is too short.I push it in as far as it will go and it doesn't "click" in to place like on the AVRI.Anyone else have this problem?

Ah, turns out I didn't get it. Instead I put my money towards a nice tweed Blues Jr amp.

...but it'll certainly be there for future considerations

Just as well.Maybe Fender will have the trem problem sorted out by the time you get one.

Yeah, that's one sweet guitar! It's pretty much the same as a normal Jazzmaster, besides the pickups, jumbo frets, Tune-O-Matic bridge, high action, and obviously that sweet purple sparkle.
