So I'm not exactly that satisfied with the stock humbuckers in my new Mexi-Jag; they sound great together, but on their own they're kind of flat, and they give off a sort of hiss feedback. Admittedly, I don't know a thing about pickups or humbuckers, so I really need some suggestions here. I'm looking mostly for a new bridge pickup, but I'm open to neck ones, too.

I'd like to get more of a punchy sound in the bridge, good for grunge or whatever, and more of a jazzy, warm sound in the neck.

Would Jazzmaster soapbox pickups work in a Jag?

Consider a Bill Lawrence L-500XL.

Poke around. You'll find nothing but raves about these p'ups. And don't let the price fool you. These are the real deal.

I have to recommend Bare Knuckle pickups. They are very rich in tone and quality, and very diverse. I'd probably even recommend one of their sets for neck and bridge.

I've got the same question. You might read up on the pots and try changing them first, I think the small 'roller' pot north of the strings is a 50K, which darkens the sound a lot. I think the other pots might be 1000k, which would make the p/u's brighter.
I had to remove and reset my Jag pickups because the foam underneath was not straight. But this thing plays so well I'm going to change the pots or pickups, it's a real player.
I still have not been able to get the trem bar off of mine yet. Somone said it screwed out, the old ones pull out, but I cannot get mine off. I guess I'll remove the trem plate and find out how to remove the bar.
