I bought my new AVRI Jazzmaster home today and have been having fun with it. One thing that puzzles me is that the tremolo arm is the push in type, which surptised me a little. What's the mechanism by which it's held in place? It seems to loosen up easily.

My MIM has a thread in arm. ( ya, big deal good for you  )

I have read that you have to push pretty hard to get your type in..you should hear a "snap". Maybe your not getting it in all the way to lock in the collet ??

this is interesting: faucet washer trick

Be patient, these ARE very good trems and you should be able to get it working good.

Yes, it is a great tremolo. Tonight I changed strings and pulled the bridge assembly out. Looking at the collet I could see that the bar needed to be pushed in more to lock in so I did that and it's now nice and snug. But now guess what? I can't get it out...

Oh boy, from one extreme to the other........well at least you'll never have to go looking for it.
