welcome to the fender forum!!

we want kurt,

its going to be a tough thing to find these days unfortunetly, but you could try looking on craigslist sweden. (craigslist.se) or ebay. i've been a big nirvana fan ever since i heard rock music and found my jag-stang on craiglist here in toronto for $600 CAD.

Are you able to use ebay? There should be some floating around there. I got mine from ebay a few years ago.

there are always some on ebay, usually varying in price. some can go for as low as $200-$300, most go around the $500-$600 range. Ive seen some go for over $1000 before. Ebay and craigslist are by far your best bet on finding one, i just bought me a fiesta red '03 Jagstang reissue for $420. LOVE IT!

It was just completely unnecessary. None of it's features were innovative or an improvement on an existing design.

i don't remember anyone ever saying it was supposed to be innovative or world changing. it was simply a mix of two already existing fender guitars. it was designed for feel. came in cool vintage colours.

don't get me wrong, it wasn't the best guitar. matter of fact, the designer/creator didn't like too much either. if kurt cobain was still alive, i'm almost certain it would never have been released due to the fact that kurt would have used it till the end of the tour and then went back to using mustangs afterwards. fender decided to cash in on the fact that "this guy" kurt, popularised the guitar to a whole new generation of kids.

nirvana's music is just as relevant to one generation as was led zeppelin/beatles to the generation of old.

i think its (jagstang) an important part of music/fender history. but definitely not an abortion... or abomination. whatever you meant.

In France the Jag-stang is really expensive, around 700-800 € so 1000-1100 $ :?

To each his own I suppose. At least the Jaguar was an evolution of the Jazzmaster with pickups and a circuit designed in an attempt to reduce rf interference.

The Mustang was designed as a low end "student model" guitar (okay to start on if mommy won't buy you a decent guitar). The Mustang, Duo Sonic, and Bronco were the Target and Walmart "Starcaster" of the day, and respected about as much.

I still say the Jag Stang is a useless abortion of an instrument that obviously didn't sell well. You may "want" one, (you don't "need" one) but why when there are so many better guitars available. The darned thing does nothing very well.
