just buy the one you like best/can afford.
if you post here, people are just gonna tell you to buy a strat, because apparently, that's the only guitar fender makes.

that's a tuffy. first of all i would NOT recommend buying from the internet without first trying the guitar. and i would warn you to be careful from buying online (especially ebay!!!) because there may be problems with the guitar and unless there is a return policy i would avoid buyin online (but sometimes you may get lucky. so just grab a rabbit's foot if you buy off ebay  ) another thing is what style do you play and how much money are you willing to spend. go to a guitar store and try out as many as possible then decide. happy buying!

Have you considered a Squier Jagmaster? I just bought a brand new one last week, but haven't had the chance to play it extensively yet. It's an interesting animal in that it is something of a mutation. It features the
contoured body of a Strat, a pair of Seymour Duncan "open" (aka uncovered) humbuckers, a whammy bar and your typical 3-position pickup selector switch, not unlike a Les Paul. Think of it as a Tele with the traditional Tele electrical layout, but with a more comfortable body, a pair of humbuckers and a whammy bar. Mine is the traditional 3-color sunburst with a dark scratchplate; very pretty. And it's very inexpensive. Anyway, food for thought.

Can you even fing Jastangs anymore? ANyway, yes DEFINATELY don't buy from ebay. Best thing to do is this:

1. Go to a well stocked music store any try out everything that interests you until you find "the guitar"
2. Go to Musiciansfriend and look up the same model and save at least 30%.

That's probably the best way to go, becaus eyou can get the feel of the guitar without paying so much. Play b4 u buy definately.
