If you think the Jag-Stang would be a good investment, forget it. There are way too many floating around and too many have done so, only to see the leftys increase while rightys pretty much have stuck around $600. If you want a Kurt Cobain/ Nirvana related guitar that would be a better investment, try to get a hold of one of Fender Japan's Competition blue Mustangs w/ matching headstock. Very few make it to the states so you have automatic increase in value, and all the fanatical members of the Kurt Kult would love to have one, so it wouldn't be too hard to sell when you decide to do so.

Starting to build guitars, I'll make a jagstang copy in candy tangerine, if no one minds I'll post it when I'm done. Lovum. I'm even starting to like tornadoes now, scary stuff. Used to be a tele?strat only guy, but looking at these posts I see there are TONS of rad designs that have been discontinued. Always loved mustangs tho!

I got a Jag-Stang reissue...It's the only one of my 14 guitars that I do not play. In fact, it is displayed in a glass case in my recording studio in the basement. It's my pride and joy...Because of Kurt, of course. I wish it would have been made to his specific specs (pickups, etc), but Fender wanted the cheapest version possible, but I praise it anyway.

I'm not a fan of the Jagstang. The Jaguar is my absolute fave guitar, and I thought I would love the jagstang. Picked one up when I was stationed in japan. But I don't like the feel of it at all, I ended up trading it for one of the old J5 teles.

So, I just read this WHOLE Forum or whatever it's called, and I've heard some good things about the Jag-Stang even though I already knew they were awesome. I wonder why Fender stopped making them, was it because of Kurt's death? :?

They werent even put in production until after his death.

Most likely discontinued because they didn't sell well.

i love the body shape of the jag-stang but I do wish they could've of revised the scratchplate and stuff even if Cobain disagreed. I'd of thought a metal plate at the top like a jaguar and a metal plate following the edge of the curve as it is on a jag-stang and not a mustang. Then the plate itself would've greatly benefitted with some symmetry to the body, just as the scratchplate on a strat does and we all know how well that works. *sigh* Twas too literal the the slapped together cutouts on paper; I'd say it's one of the reasons it wasn't popular enough for Fender to keep making them without years between factory production.

"c'mon fender, jus give the jag-stang it's own thang! it ay have come from a jag and a stang, but it's a jag-stang; so give it it's own thang..."

About Fender not making money off of the Jag-Stang...It would be smart of them to reproduce them when a new Nirvana release comes out to capitalize on the Nirvana/Kurt interest. For instance, the release of the anni. "Bleach" album and the "Live at Reading" DVD/CD would have been a good time to do a short-term production of the Jag-Stang.

The only thing is, they need to put some thought and money into the design this time. I can't stress this enough in my posts...Put some good hardware on the guitar (especially the pickups), but keep the overall look of the guitar the same and then re-release.

I agree w/ Kid, Everyone asks if they will reissue them.
Didn't they reissue them once already? (Maybe I'm wrong in saying that.)
They may, they may not. They are pretty nice guitars, not my style, I don't like the way they feel.. I know a guy who wanted one and had never played one, got it and didn't like it..
