My Grandfather has a four bank Fender steel guitar. Through my research so far I have determined the to be a Fender Quad StringMaster. He is trying to sell it and has asked me to research what it might be worth. I have not been able to find a serial number on it but he says it was purchased in 1955. He has an amp and a volume pedal with it but I don't know if they are original. It is in excellent condition and he still plays a little every night, but his arthritis is slowing him down a bit. I am working on getting some pictures but in the meantime here are some of a 53 model I pulled off the web.

that thing is intense. why does he want to sell it?
that thing could be a fairly cool family heirloom, like my grandfather's trumpet.
unless he needs the money.

What a beautiful instrument! Love to have a go on one.

I'm sure it's probably worth quite a lot to the right person but I agree with the above!

Not for sale yet. He asked me to find out what it was worth. I told him I would give him whatever he wants for it. But right now he just wants to know what its worth.

He is 92 and has arthritis pretty bad so he can't play much anymore. I agree with bubbles and will probably do what ever I can to keep it in the family. Just trying to help him out and see what I can come up with.

I don't know how much they are worth but I do konw that they were discontinued after a while because the top string broke too often in the A tuning according to a book about Fender I read if that helps at all.

By The Way: the book is called "Fender the sound heard 'round the world" By Richard R. Smith.
