Hi.

I'm new to this forum. Actually, I just posted a thread about the SubSonic Strat a few minutes ago, but yeah, still pretty new.

As the title says, this thread regards the Jaguar Baritone. I just picked it up new and I am enjoying it so far. However, I read online that it is meant for .057 gauge strings. Baritone strings start at .062 and go up to .072 as far as I know. I play .068-.014 gauge strings. If I went to a good technician (my technician is very good), would it be a problem to set this guitar up for .068 gauge strings?

Also, the dealer I bought it from didn't include a hard-case for it and neglected to put any of the warranty and certificate information in the case. I know the guitar is new because it still has the clear plastic protective coating over the pick-up guard--you know, the kind that is a real pain to get off around the pick-ups. My guess is that all Fenders should come with this information, but despite the fact that I've bought a number of guitars over the years, only one other guitar as been brand-new.

Last question, does anyone know a good hard-case I could use for this guitar? It's a baritone so it won't fit in a standard guitar case. The neck scale is 27".

I'm hoping that there are other Jaguar Baritone owners on here that can help out. Keep in mind this is not the Bass VI, but the currently still in-production Jaguar Baritone.

Thanks.

Can I get a response? I was hoping someone on here could help, since Fender hasn't responded to my e-mail regarding the same questions.

Your guitar should have come with a very nice gig bag. It's standard. The Jaguar HH Baritone is a different beast, and it takes .56 for the low B. Some baritones are longer than 27" scale, a few are shorter.

Nice heavy jazz guitar strings will work. If you want a funkier sound, you could even use flatwounds.

My problems with the Jaguar is that the nut is too short and not sturdy enough, causintg strings to pop out. It also has a bit of a jangly sound at times--i think again, the nut. Bridge is solid. Also, the switch on top for pick ups is not all it could be--fuzz and pops when switching.

But, I still love the beast, and it is smooth and easy to fret, good for bass lines and full barre chords.

Just got one jaguar HH special edition barytone. First thing i did after having played it is went to the shop, got 14-68 gauge strings and tuned the beast down to A. Let's face it : these 13-56 string are waayyyyy too light (in my sense of course). Yet I'm no doomster...just a shoegazing freakhead

Now I make children cry, mothers choke, and friends bow down, but I'm worrying about the tension...Do I need massive trussrod adjustments, or will the neck support such strings ?
