Hey those in the know...those blessed with "Dog Ears" who can really hear quality differences...

...help. Please.

Few weeks ago, 'bought a Classic Player Jaguar and REALLY like it.

But what are the differences in sound from the AVRI Jaguar pickups and the MIMs, if any?

Are the "real things" brighter or darker or fuller or warmer or sharper or is there much difference at all?

Thanks folks.

I bought the '62 AVRI last fall.
I will admit that I had not heard either one before buying..all the stores around here said "The Jaguar isn't that popular, so we don't stock it."
I had a Jag in 1965, got rid of it, and wanted another one. Also wanted it in white with the single pickup arrangement, not the humbucker.
One advantage of the MIM is that is does not use the "vintage" bridge, which is horrible. I don't remember it being such a problem 40+ years ago.
The bridge has since been changed out and is playing fine.
In reality, if I had it to do over again - AND the MIM was available in white, I'd by the MIM.
The sound of the ReIssue is wonderful with so many tone capabilities it's a joy to play. I suspect the MIM would be equally suited.
I didn't answer your question. I think the only way you'll find out is to locate a dealer that has both and develop your own opinion.

Thanks, Flashback.

'Have an MIJ '96 Jazzmaster (Oly White) with the old style bridge and have never had a problem, but am not a power-chordist.

'Did however swap out pups for Fender AVRI a few years ago and the difference is quite obvious in a positive direction. Veritably a perfect guitar.

That said, the Gibson-style bridge on the MIJ Jag is okay.
