One of my local dealers has a 1975 Mustang for sale.
It is sunburst with no crazing or cracks in the finish, a very small ding on the back of the body, no other scratches or finish issues.
The tuner posts have some "white" corrosion on them but the tuner knobs are clean. Plays nice and feels nice. Actually appears to have been played very little as there is no fretboard wear and the back of the neck still has all of it's finish intact. There is some slight rusting on some of the pickguard screws. The pickguard itself has no wear on it either.
The bridge cover is included and fits tightly.
Does include the original case, though I have not seen it yet.
The serial number from the back plate is 548176
I did not ask to take pictures of it, though I can probably get some if that will help.
The asking price is $1180.00.
I don't really need another guitar (does anyone really NEED more than one?) but this one is interesting as I don't have a Mustang and have been thinking over the Classic '65 Reissue.
Any thoughts?
thanks for your input.

Do a "completed" search on ebay for the prices of similar ones that sold. Also do a search at http://www.gbase.com to get recent selling prices. You can also buy (or just peek) in a guitar apprail book and any large book store.

Thanks for the gbase link.
Couldn't find anything comparable as far as finish and condition, but it seems from what I can find, the asking price is pretty fair.

Most of the original Mustangs I've seen go for around $1000. If you can get it for less than that, do it, depending on condition.

Personally, the reissue may be a better idea.

I did consider a new one but since it is a less popular model than the Jaguar RI, nobody at any of our local guiatr stores seems to be able to tell me about the bridge and it's layout. "Vintage" does not help me much and there are no good photos I can find of the current Mustang bridge.
I can't see going through what I had to on my new Jaguar.
Had to change out the entire bridge so it would quit buzzing and stay in tune. The threaded rollers on the Jaguar are horrible.
I should be getting my very modified 24" scale Strat sometime this week. If it works out like we are hoping, I may forego the Mustang and get some different pickguards with various cutout arrangements to allow pickup changes and layouts with some ease.
Anyway, if someone can come up with a good closeup photo of the current Mustang Bridge, I'd really appreciate seeing it.
