Well... I may only be 15 but I own 2 electric Guitars ( crap starcaster and cyclone II ) and 3 acoustics ( Hagstrom classical, Takamini, and a Kona ) They suit me pretty well. I've been playing for about 5 years now.

I regret that I never started playing guitar or bass til I was 26...in case I forgot to mention I'm old now  I started on drums at 14, played em til 25, lost interest in hauling all the crap around and not being able to play when I wanted to for noise etc. I sold the drums and did nothing for about a year.

Bought my first bass used from a buddy that needed $$, and went with it from there.

Bottom line: Excellent that you started early, and stay with it. It's great fun.

I definately will stay with it. My goal is to play as many instruments as I can and do it well. I have played the harmonica, clarinet, sax, guitar, trombone, and mandolin with great success and hope to do so with the bass. I guess you could say I'm pretty cultured. And the best part is... I wasn't forced into it by my parents. I hope it didn't sound like I was bragging too much ( although I was just a little ^_^ )

I looked through all these posts for my all time favorite "under achiever".. and didn't find it. My vote would be for the Esquire.. That's the Telecasters little brother with only one pick up. It had the whine of Tele, and the action of a well worn Strat. Loved it. Sold it in 1968 to pay for car insurance so I could date girls...... Still kicking myself 40 years later...
 :D

I think the Fender Kantana is one of the most underrated guitars because until I saw one in a pawn shop I never even knew what the hell it was.

Thrash out.

I think the Jazzmaster is the most underrated guitar because It hasn't had a whole lot of mainstream use over the years the Jazzmaster has made a comeback though for Hellogoodbye's Lead Guitarist Forrest Kline

Yes gotta agree, I had a Flame Elite, bought new in 1986, sadly sold in '95 when funds were tight :( you just never see them now. Motorhead used to use em briefly.

I gotta agree that the Cyclone II is under rated. I read some Lead II, but where's the love for the Lead III? haha in case anyone's noticed my username is completely based on my affectionatly named Lead III, Mary Lou. Great bloody guitar, even though you can tell it was made durring the late CBS era. The neck pockets a bit to big and the finish just chipped right off. I'm currently in the process of partially restoring it, and changing the wiring slightly.

OH! And also the Fender Bronco. I REALLY want fender to reissue that guitar.

'Agree with above; Jazzmaster is most under-rated Fender of all time, partly because of its longevity. Did not Leo think of it as 'beyond the Strat'?

In this opinion, most under-rated production electric guitar of all time is the Mosrite Mk I. What a magnificent instrument.

I have a Concord acoustic that I love. I play a lot of bluegrass and this guitar has a very"grassy-tone". :D
