I don't think the Mustang or the Jaguar are underrated at all. I believe the Cyclone is the most underrated Fender. It's so versatile and no one gives it the credit it deserves.

That gets my vote. 2nd goes to Cyclone II. Had the priviledge to play a Lead II a few times and each time was short on cash. Never heard of the guitar 'til then either... I would sit in the store for a few hours playing it every other day 'til it finally sold... One day I will have one...

I was going through some old boxes of junk from my youth when I came across a couple of flyers for the"New" Lead and Lead II. Never got to buy one.

The Squier. Cort makes them decent. It is sad how under rated they are.

Fender F-03 Acoustic.

I got mine second hand in a junk shop in 1986 and still have it.

It's paid me back 100 times over. People still tell me (worn frets included) that it's a great guitar to play and I've played guitars worth three times the price of this which don't come close in terms of sound or playability.

A very underrated little instrument.

Agreed.
I have a GT model and a MIM model and they are both great.
After owning Jags, Jazzys, MM's and JS's thats my conclusion.

I think a very underrated guitar is the stratocaster HH. Most people think humbuckers don't belong on a strat, or any other fender for that matter. But I absolutly love the double fat strat.

The only thing is I didn't snatch one up before they were gone!
I can't believe Fender stopped making it. I was very unhappy.

But i agree with what other people are saying on here too. There are allot of underrated guitars out there. And allot of overrated ones too.

even though it gets attention, I would say with all of the complaints it recieves that the Jagstang fits here pretty well.

I think the best HH Strat that Fender has ever offered was the Big Apple Strat. It was the HH model that accompanied the Lone Star and Roadhouse Strats (which have been kinda reissued, as they are much poorer quality than before). It had a Pearly Gates Plus in the bridge and a '59 in the neck position. One of the best features was that it had a five position switch that gave you coil tap options, instead of the three position switches Fender has been using recently on their HH Strats. Tid-bit of trivia for Weezer fans: the Big Apple is the axe of choice of Rivers Coumo.
