we got one in fiesta red from the first batch in 96. It's a little awkward feeling at first due to the body shape, but it's a nice guitar. Fender Japan was known for producing good quality instruments and they didn't disappoint here.

The necks much slimmer than most Fender products and is much closer to a Wizard in depth and shape. It's a little narrower and the guitar itself is a shorter scale at 24 inches. One of the downsides to the neck is you can only adjust the truss rod from the bottom and there's no cutaway in the body, so you have to pop it off.

Overall it's a fun guitar that's easy to use for rock or blues and whle the pickups are nothing special, they're not bad. There's a 3 way selector for each - in phase, out of phase, and off. - blackdiamond13 @ Jemsite

I owned one of these (fiesta red) and honestly thought it was the worst fender I have ever played/owned.

I have a squier 51 special that kills it.

If you want a cool vintage look, with the "grunge" or "alt" gibson-esque sound just get a cyclone or toronado.

I think the toronado (besides the jaguar) is the best guitar ever made.

ever.

For some strange reason, there are currently 3 Jagstangs in our house.

The reason was, I had one for my collection (pictured earlier in this thread). Then my daughter, who is learning guitar, decided she liked Nirvana and wanted my Jagstang. I also wanted to reclaim a really nice acoustic guitar that I had previously given her, so she suggested that we swap. The only problem being that I wanted to keep the Jagstang.

So I did the only logical thing (to me) and bought another Jagstang on eBay and proposed the swap. She accepted grudgingly, because the replacement Jagstang was a later CIJ model and not in as nice condition as my collectable one.

All good right? Nope. Suddenly I was a trickster, as she gave me grief regularly about how I had tricked her into accepting a "second rate" Jagstang. So, back to eBay I went and bought another nicer MIJ one (and by the way, they have to be Surf Blue). This one made her happy, thank heavens. 8)

But now we have three Jagstangs...

It's awesome to hear your daughter wanted to first off learn the guitar, and secondly on a Jagstang to boot! I hope you enjoy all 3!

thats where all the jagstangs went. Lol. U can always buy a japan mustang and mod it like kurt did. If u notice he played mustangs with a humbuck in back. Jagstang was just a concept he sent to fender but his main guitar on the last in utero tour was a mustang mod.
