Steve Bailey Fretted or Fret-less Jazz Bass® VI (6-String).

Fender’s first-ever real six-string bass guitar :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

Not to be compared to the vintage Bass VI.

P.S. I just wish it was passive (electronics). :(

Yeah, me, too. Glad to see this achievement. As electronics are concerned: if this is one's only set back, the stock preamp setup can be removed and the bass easily rewired to standard passive tone/volume/volume jazz bass wiring at very little expense (it will void the warranty - so wait to be sure all aspects of bass are solid before doing this.)

LOL  robt8500,
I played "guitar" 1st then was asked to play bass for the band. Did so for many years. When asked I went back to guitar electric and acoustic for a different band. The church asked for a bass player and I auditioned and won the "chair". I "rejoiced" because it is my preferred instrument of choice. A bass 6 string holds all the notes needed for the presented music materials in a choral/orchestrated presentation but rarely do I need to utilize the high C string as a soloist but rather to reach the higher notes in a more comfortable manner of technique: across the board rather then having to run up and down. There is the ability to chord higher up the scale and use harmonics when called for. I am a musician that most enjoys bass playing. My other interests are...piano, keyboard, trumpet, guitar, mandolin and always looking to learn more. Thanks. And Peace be in you.
David
