Forgive me if there is already a post on this subject, but I searched and didn't find one. I have a black MIM Classic Player Jazzmaster. I would like to replace the brown tortise pickguard with a red tortise pickguard. Has anyone done this? Does everything line up with the replacement gurard? I've found a red tort guard at Allparts, but I don't know if the MIM JM would need a guard to fit an AVRI or a Japanese made JM.... or if any of them work at all. Thank you!

I bought an AVRI red Tort guard from Angelas.com for a CP Jaguar when I replaced the humbuckers for Jag single coils. The only mod I had to do was cut the bottom section of the guard off and file the post holes a bit larger. A very easy thing to do and once the bridge is on, not all that noticable. The screw holes matched up pretty well.

Thank you for the reply. I may need to just buy pickgurard for the CP Jazzmaster and see what happens. I didn't want to throw money away if there wasn't a possibility of it working!

Tom, your predicament is 13 years late.

'Bought an MIJ Jazzmaster and it came with what was reputed to be red tortise guard. To the horrified buyer it looked like someone had eaten pasta with red sauce and and vomited.

'Had a custom brown-red tortise one made in Chicago and told them to keep the other one. 'Do not remember who did it and the shop it was purchased at is gone.

Best of fortune.

 I don't think I'd want a pickguard that looked liked vomit either! I have seen red tort guards that I thought looked good. However I may be a bit reluctant to order one if I can't see it first! Thank you for the reply.
