I've been drooling over the appearance of this thing for like a year now. Does anyone here have one, and how does it play for you?

I'd like one as well. I've played one in a Guitar Center, and it felt like a great guitar. Some owners think the pickups are a little weak, from what I understand, but that seems to be the only big complaint.

Yeah, looked like the young guy in the E Street Band was playing a Black Jaguar Baritone Special HH. Anybody else notice??

It's definitely a pretty nice guitar. Great if you want a jaguar for a little less money than a CP. However, if you're a fan of vintage jaguars, I wouldn't recommend it. The humbuckers give you a very different sound. It feels like a jaguar, but doesn't sound like one. It also looks great.

I had a jaguar hh and it sounded much more like a tele deluxe than a real jaguar. I replaced the humbuckers with a P90 and a vintage jag pickup. That sounded really good but definitely gave it a bit of a frankenstein look. The guitar itself looked and felt good though. I found that i really missed the tremolo. It is actually kinda Cobain jaguar sounding as he used the JB and super distortion humbuckers on his jag. If you have the money buy a real jag or at least the new modified classic player version.

I guess it depends on your style but I LOVE LOVE LOVe mine. I just got it on the 21st of February 09. But I can Tell already it is the best guitar i have ever played. the humbuckers give it a real nice tone, full and rich. I play through a 72 Fender Vibrolux and the tones i get out of it run the gamut.
I for one am a fan. Plus if you have smaller hands like i do then it fits like a glove. i can't say enough good things about it. It feels real solid in your hands. Go for it if you want to sound like no one else. It's definately not a strat!

Oh yeah i play in a post hardcore band along the lines of Fugazi/mars volta/at the drive in.

happy picking.

I agree with Bernierunns. I own a vintage Jag (1966) and a vintage JM (1964). When I bought the Jag HH Special I wasnt looking for another Jag - I already have one. I fell in love with the look, and the sound of it. It is different from any other guitar and I like it for that.
I also have a Jag Baritone custom (with the Jag single coils) which they dont selll anymore , and I treasure it. It also has a sound unlike anything else.
I bought a Jag Baritone Special too (looks like the Jag HH special with the black motif) and I gave it to my son. It shares the same Dragster HUmbuckers as the Jag HH and again sounds different from all the others. My son wanted a baritone with humbuckers so I gave it to him for Christmas.

I dont know how long Fender will make the Jag HH Special, so if you like them you should get one before they discontinue it, which they are famous for doing with no notice. I am so glad I got the Baritone Custom when I did, since they stopped making them.

Save your money up and get one. I love the black and shiny too.
The Jag Baritone special has a nice dark sound. I really like playing it on the high registers.
Like I said, i gave that one to my son, who is a professional musician, and kept the Baritone Custom. He wanted the humbucker sound so it worked out.
Try to grab one soon before Fender decides to cancel the damn thing withoud notice.

Get one and rock on man- played one at the local GC and I couldn't put it down for hours

My next guitar/ intensive project is going to get one of those babies. But then I'm going to change the pickups to Emg active pickups, but keep all of the switches and knobs. That tone control would be sick.

And besides, someone needs to shut up all of the kids that play their 'hardcore' music with Schecters and Gibsons and Ibanez's and such.

Someone needs to say Fender can own that genre too.

=P

Howdy folks,

Love my HH but would like to find a different pickguard (red tortoise). All the ones I've come across will not accomodate the humbuckers. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

you could trace the humbucker pickgaurd onto the single coil pickgaurd and then cut it out. I would imagine that there are not a lot of replacements available yet. But I could be wrong.

I would imagine (although I am not sure on this) that there are other differences between a standard jaguar pickgaurd and a special HH pickgaurd. So beware.

I bought and returned an Epiphone Casino. Then I went to the local Guitar Center and played the Jaguar HH Special. I was glad to see it way up high on their display wall, where every kid didn't take it down to play with it.

Anyway, I went home with it. I love it. It has a great look and "vibe" about it and it is an awesome sounding guitar. I like the regular Jags, but they alway sound a little "beach music" to me.

You can't go wrong here. You will love it!

It's definitely a beautiful guitar, I bought one just around Christmas. I brought it home and played it, and loved it.......i mean looooooved it. but after a while when i started breaking in the guitar i noticed that it's kinda muddy. Now I've come to hate the sound of these pick ups....the guitar plays great, but doesn't have that punch that Humbuckers should have. The humbuckers on the classic players model scream. Plus with the classic players model you get the tremolo. I would say your better off with the Classic Player Jag. I'm starting to regret my $700 investment. Other then the sound and the fact it lacks a tremolo i have no complaints. It's plays and feels like any other Jaguar. My recommendation is play one at guitar center then decide from there, try and play it on an amp similar to yours too. the sound it made coming from a 65 twin reverb is not the same as a FM 25.....that might even be my problem. So just be careful to make sure your really impressed. I also drooled over this guitar, and bought it for the looks and feel. bad idea.
