Hi I'm Karen, aka chinky2. I'm new to the fender community, as a matter of fact I don't feel like I really belong and this is the reason why: For christmas I got a fender gift pack telestar guitar set. It comes with an amp, guitar, tuner, strings, pics and a gig bag. Now I'm not complaining because that was a nice gift, but I know in no way shape or form that this fender telestar can compare or compete with a strat or telecaster. I mean has anyone ever heard of a fender telestar and is it a knock-off or what, is my guitar any good at all? I'm asking those of you who know to post what you know, and mind you even if my guitar isn't worth much I still cherish and will cherish it as a valuable gift in my eyes. The reason being that a very special person gave it to me and I am truly grateful. But I'm just curious about my axe, so feel free to post a reply and thanks in advance. :lol: :lol: :lol:[/list]

Chinky, If its not new, It may look like this:

Then its from the 1970's decade and not many are seen.

But, I assume its new. Does it look like this?

Then its a Silvertone Telestar Mona. A beginners guitar, and not a Fender.

If no to both of the above, then a post a pic and we might be able to help. But as for it competing against a Strat, who knows? Many a gem has rolled out of a common pile of rocks. Regardless, its still a nice gift. Have it setup properly, play the hell out of it, and enjoy it.

Hello Chinky2,

Firstly, welcome to the forums.

My first guitar {45 years ago}

Post a photo if possible
many would like to see
the telstar.

Best of luck with it.

Cheers.

Greetings my Fender Brothers and Sisters. How's everybody out there doing? I hope you are all well and jammin on your Strats. And happy New Year. Now getting back to me, I went straight to the horses mouth, which was the fender company and asked about my particular kind of guitar. They said it was a new student series that they issue out to new and up and coming musicians. My guitar is worth about $250.00. Like I said before no matter what it's worth is it was given to me by a very special person, so I will cherish it forever. Thanks to you guys for reply posting to me. It was much appreciated. Play on dudettes and dudes. :lol: :lol: :lol:

Premier Guitar magazine online's issue shows a new guitar that is a tele/strat hybrid called a telstar from a company called "Destroy All Guitars." The guitar retails for nearly 4 grand, but sure looks interesting.

Do you know what store it came from? I'd love to see one.

I can't find any mention of anything like that on the web.

It must really be a new item!
