The Tennessean started in 1958, I believe.

If you have the serial number, you can date it here:

http://gretschpages.com/serial-numbers/

Let us know, please, it's a cool guitar.

Thank you for providing me with that link!

I'm guessing the serial number is on the back of the headstock (102024) which according to the serial listing which states serial numbers 9,000s to 12,000s were guitars manufactured around 1954. Unless I'm doing things wrong (I've never dated serial #'s before), then it should of been manufactured in 1954.

EDIT: I take that back, doing a bit of research it was (definitely) made in January, and probably dates back to the 60's or 70's. (Meaning it was made either in the year 1960 or 1970 exactly).

DOUBLE EDIT: More research states it was made in the 60's definately. Most likely '62-'65.

I know about squat on Gretsches ... but that serial number is in the 100-thousands ... that site says "77,000s to 84,000s = 1965" (the highest serial number range it gives). But it says after 1965 they began a month/year/number code. So 102024 is probably January 1970. I don't think it's October 1972 because that only leaves three digits for production number.

Keep on researching! Have fun.

I really like that Heartfield Talon or whatevr it is. It sorta looks like a Jackson. It's very nice. I'd like to play one and see what it feels like.

hey man ^

beautiful guitars. is that an invader in the toronado? i've always wanted one in my MIK GT. FYI - Toronado's weren't made until 98.

so if yours is the first run, it's a 98.

cheers.
