I'm looking for the sunburst, 2 single coil pickup version of the Jaguar Baritone. Not the current one in black with two humbucks. I know it was discontinued, but I see them from time to time on ebay list as new.

Any ideas?!

Thanks!
Johnny Isaacs

Keep checking eBay/keep looking in general is about all I can offer. If you find one that you're interested in bidding on/Buy-It-Now, you might contact the seller about how new it is. My guess is that they're NOS. Depending how many Jaguar Baritone Customs were actually made, during the last release, there could be some wholesalers/retailers out there that still have a "boat load" still in their original packaging.

They're actually two different guitars. The one Johnny is looking for is a Jaguar Baritone Custom, the other is the Fender Bass VI, which actually predates the Jaguar by one year. Here's the wikipedia entry for the Fender Jaguar Baritone Custom, and here's the one for the Fender Bass VI.

I was a bit miffed, for a while, that the Jaguar Baritone Custom went out of production before I could save enough for one, then I found my Bass VI (used, MIJ 1995/1996) for $750.00 when I actually had that much available, so all is well with my world. Of course I also stopped my search for a baritone guitar, at that point. :D

Good luck in your search, Johnny. Hopefully you'll also encounter what you're looking for, at the same time you have the available green backs.

Matt

ahhh i see now. thank you for helping on, kinda learnt alot there (believe it or not) :D
To be honest, i do like the look and idea of the 2 single coils (as it sort of resemble the 'bass' [jazz bass] in it to most baritones today) but i think the freedom of the 3 pu's would be more beneficial investment for me but on a different matter...
could you recommend some good baritone players who preferable play C-C?
or just any little thing that could help me expand on the baritone at all (from a bassists point of view)

thank you

Yeah, these are not easy to find. I have the new Baritone Jag HH, and it's very nice, but not quite the same thing, I believe. Try and buy a Custom Shop Bass VI! The closest thing I can see to that old Jag VI Custom Baritone currently made is the Schecter Hellcat VI. It has 3 Duncan minihumbuckers, no tremelo bar, 30 inch scale--and looks like a Bass VI. About $600 new, if you can find one. E to E, like the Jag Bass VI Custom Baritone. Now, about the only thing I can say I've heard bad about the late Jag model, is too much feedback because of the 2 single coils, and if you get one, you might want to have a reverse would coil put in, probably on the bridge pickup. Otherwise, Japanese Fender stuff seems really nice (have a Jag Bass and the HH Baritone"Special".

Hey Johnny, I don't know where you are in your search for a Jaguar Baritone Custom (or something equivalent), but there's one up on eBay right now.

Johhny,

Hi,

I saw one on GBase.com (the two single coil model ) 30' neck .made in Japan

ad states Brand New (or NOS) as one post mentioned , I would love

to grab it but am $$ short, it is listed at $1,000 with gigbag

not sure about shipping, there is another one (or was this a.m)

that had sold on it

Peace
dwwave

Not sure what they sold for before being discontinued but they sound awesome (at least the ones I played) I have not played the new models
with the Atomic HB's and ? is there a single coil one out there also.
The ones I have seen are Black, I like the new Jaguar;s and Jazzmasters
but for the $$ I would get a J.Marcis Jassmaster or a reissue of either
but not anytime soon.

I have seen various Fender Sunburst Baritones on eBay (even models I never knew existed) I have seen the BassVI (did not Robert Smith from The Cure use one at times?

Best of Luck!
