1.) I assure you the vibrato would not have saved this mess of a guitar.
2.) So basically, it's not a Mustang.
3.) I know quite a bit about it, I researched it extensively when I was a Nirvana fanboy and looking for a new guitar.
4.) I have played it, not exactly sure why you'd assume I haven't.
5.) I assure you this neck heavy, awkwardly shaped horror of an instrument is not better than a Mustang.
6.) Stop with the damned censor bypasses and at least try to type coherently (if English isn't your first language, it's perfectly fine if some things come across.... less than good.)

Basically, you just said literally EVERYTHING on the guitar needs to be changed, to the point where you are building a new instrument, and then it would be a great guitar. Cool, but then it wouldn't even be a friggin Jagstang, now would it?

PS, I have no idea why I wrote 1/2 of that post in the form of a numbered list.

Yes duh >.< it is a JAGuar muSTANG Use the JAGuar Vibrato And a muSTANG neck and make it as thin as the JAGuar or a muSTANG, and as light as a muSTANG. Lol The guitar is a bether design... it works just as a mustang CUZ I OWN A MUSTANG!.... the jag-stang has a Mustang vibrato and Mustang kind of pickguard. it has the Mustang togleswitches. the jag-stang is a MUSTANG! with waird neck, a new body, and new $@!& pickups.... lol dont need to be enstein so see that >.> And the Jag-stang wasent complited. as you said its just a jaguar and a mustang photo glued togheter. it wasent spesifik and kurt was mad at it, cuz its $@!& right from the Fender customs, but moded its a bether... sorry for my slopy spelling.. -.-

this is how i think the whole jagstang thing should be handled: make a squire Jagstang. with good but cheap features (to keep the cost down) such as Duncan designed pickups, (since thats what Kurts tech put in it anyway after he got it) tune o-matic bridge, and of course the body counters for the arm and stomach which kurt infamously forgot to tell fender to put on the guitar, even though i think that was fenders fault (id like to meet the guy at fender who left those off the guitar). in addition to that, reissue the fender Jagstang with more high quality components! but keep true to the original as much as possible, minus the design "flaws" that have been addressed by a lot of people on this forum already

I have one and it's pretty wicked.

But alas I don't think it should be brought back, I think the Cobain Jaguar shouldn't have even been produced...they've sucked so much money out of Kurt's name, they need to just let him rest in peace.

i know what you mean dude. but if Kurt were still alive i don't think he would mind having the Jagstang mass produced so that people who were his fanboys (for lack of a better term) could have one of the guitars he designed. as much as people want to paint him as nothing but an apathetic druggie, playing guitar was something he was pretty passionate about; and he loved the idea of the Jagstang (before he got the prototype and saw how $@!&#* it turned out to be of course). which is why i think fender should put it out there again with a few upgrades.

It's basically a HS Mustang with a weird body. The Mustang necks play's amazing which is why I would love a Jag-Stang. I wish they would of just reissued it instead of the Kurt Cobain Jaguar. I'm guessing they are waiting for the 20th Anniversary to reissue it again. Even more money, I think... :? Ebay time!

I think its kinda stupid of fender cuz in a mashup kurt did he put the mustang and the jags trem sysem on and added "use the one that works the best" guess he forgot to send it in or fender ignored it or did a mistake

Yes, but with an option for all single coils and a maple neck.

In stock form, a Jagstang is not much of a guitar. I keep mine around only because I know if I sold it, the old Nirvana fan-boy in me would miss it and I would be hard pressed to find another in mint condition. Here is how the fan base for the Jagstang works....those who don't have one really really want one....and those of us who have owned one were not impressed LOL. I won't alter mine, because I have several other guitars that do what I want, and altering a Jagstang will harm some of it's resale value. But, I will say this, if you own a modified Jagstang, or are willing to modify yours, you could make it a decent little guitar. But from the money invested in buying one of these overpriced, used monstrosities.......then modifying it, you would have to really love that shape, cause you could buy a heck of a lot more guitar than a Jagstang at that price point (after the mods factored in). Also, I don't think I have ever had a guitar with worse pickups than the stock set in the Jagstang LOL. I do like the neck though......so I did say something good about the Jagstang :D

I own a Jag-Stang myself and tbh reading the bad things people have put up about doesn't really make sense to me. I'm not saying you are wrong but I find it strange because my Jag-Stang isn't neck heavy, it's perfectly balanced and sits where I want it to, sounds absolutely fantastic, has a really nice Clean Tone, similar to the Kurt Cobain Mustang Clean Tone (I have played quite a few of them), The Distortion is great on this guitar very beefy, even on the single coil neck pickup, The guitar sustains really well and is extremely versatile and the pickups have a big sound. I dive and go crazy with the tremolo on the guitar and everytime I do that, it NEVER goes out of tune, no matter how much I do it and I do proper dive bombs on it. The Neck is fabulous to play on but it has the same neck as a Mustang so that's an obvious fact, and the last final point my strap has never fallen off my Jag-Stang either.

I'm guessing I must have lucked out with mine because my Jag-Stang has never given me any of the common problems that everyone has told horror stories about and it is completely stock.

Anyway I vote yes, They should reissue the Jag-Stang, but if people are concerned about it being to much they could make it in China with the Fender Marauder Modern Player, which is also a fantastic guitar

Hate to revive a really old topic, but I just had to say that with a few modifications, the Jag-Stang is a very unique and great guitar.

As one person pointed out, I will admit that when I first got it, it sat in my closet unplayed for about 8 months and didn't distract me from my modded Fender '51.

Before we get further, I just though I should add that mine is not the basswood version, it is made of solid alder and is the reissue from 2003-2005. Q-serial number.
After wanting to desperately turn this into my main guitar, I sought out to mod it. I had Curtis Novak wind me a '59 Les Paul humbucker and a '65 Jaguar pickup. I also ditched the stock 250k pots and the stock capacitor for 500k USA CTS pots and a .047 Sprague Orange Drop cap. I also rewired the stock Mustang switches to have the switch above the neck single-coil control as a pickup selector (Neck-Both-Bridge) and the switch above the humbucker act as a coil-splitter (Split-Full-Split; either side out of middle splits the humbucker). Since I never use the vibrato, I also removed the bridge and tailpiece and moved the springs to the furthest notch to create the most tension and I also lowered the tailpiece so it is almost flush with the bridge. The guitar now sustains incredibly.

Besides the incredible sustain, I obviously get amazing Jaguar-esque tones from the Jag pickup. I say esque because it is obviously not dead on with the 500k pots and all. Using both the Les Paul and the Jag pickup in combo, I can get some pretty spanky almost Telecaster-eqsue tones out of it. Obviously when using the '59 Les Paul on its on, I get awesome chunky distortion tones out of it. When I split the humbucker, I also feel like I can get some very convincing single-coil, Stratocaster style tones. I felt like I turned this in to an incredibly versatile guitar and it has since become my main guitar. I have never struggled with it being neck-heavy, and it has the greatest neck on any Fender guitar ever made. I picked mine up off a Craigslist ad in 2010 for $300 and with the mods I have about $600 total into the guitar. If you can get one at the right price, in my opinion this is my favorite model that Fender ever produced.
