didn't someone already have this poll?
no, i think the jag-stang is better left forgotten. it was a poorly designed guitar that not even kurt himself was very fond of. fender were still working on prototypes when he died. then to cash in on his fame, the guitar went into production.
if they're gonna re-issue it, then it needs to be fixed.

I think the Jag-Stang have to be brought back, but before, it have to be fixed like that:

Quote:
The "Jag-stang" was seen starting in mid-to-late 1993 although Kurt rarely played it. A reviewer for Guitar Shop saw a "cross between the Jaguar and Mustang, the Jag-stang features a sonic blue Jag body with white pickguard and Mustang bridge". The Jag-stang was available to the public for a short time, but isn't wasn't as Kurt intended it to be. Kurt didn't even like the Jagstang that much when he received it. He forgot to have Fender do the contours for the arm and the stomach. It was as thick as a Telecaster and rather misbalanced. He wouldn't even play it for the (first?) month he had it. It was also tough to set up. Earnie immediately changed the pickups, putting a Duncan JB in the bridge. As previously stated, he installed a Tune-O-Matic bridge on it. Kurt had trouble with the Mustang's slider switches, which oddly appeared on the Jag-stang, but not on the Ferrington. Earnie's also puzzled as to how the Jag-stang wound up with a Mustang tremolo and bridge. "Kurt was funny, with both the Jag-stang and the Ferrington, he was very excited when he received them, but soon he found things about both that he overlooked or wanted to change." He had also talked with Kurt about re-shaping the body for a more traditional Fender look. Earnie told Mark Wittenberg about these changes (also, the fitted bridge). Mark was interested in the changes, but he passed away, as well. So Fender released that Jag-Stang in the way Kurt had received it. Kurt eventually became comfortable enough to use his Jag-Stang on rare occaions for a whole show. Courtney gave the Jag-Stang to Peter Buck after Kurt passed away . He played it in the "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?" music video, and Mike Mills plays it live on "Let Me In" .

I think that it should be reissued for one and only one reason ... the bigger choice, the better !!
But in regard to its limitations and to the spirit of Cobain, this guitar should be sold for less than 300 bucks. This is a cool device for beginners and this should be the spirit of any attempt to reissue it.
Plus, the music market has made some huge improvements since the mid-90s and now you really can find a great eastern asian made guitar for 250-350 dollars - see Ibanez artcore hollow bodies for example.
A Jag-Stang Reissue should constitute a kind of "mature" alternative to the Squier Hello-Kitty in some way. What do you think of that ?

They should bring it back left handed. It has been too long now. Fender needs to realize that there's a lot of people wanting lefty jag-stangs. I'm one on them. They should lower the price.

I for one would be glad if the Jagstang were brought back, with some adjustments of course.

I also think it should be reissued. I know its a bit strange but I kind of liked that beast. I dont think it was ugly. It should be sold for a prize as the Classic Player Jags and Jazzmasters.

I'm not that too fond of its sound, but I do have to actually play one first, rather than judge it upon an interview on youtube.

If it makes business sense to bring it back, they might.

If they did I wouldn't be buying one, and that should be the point here.

It shouldn't be, "Should Fender bring back____________?"
But it should be, "If Fender brought back __________, would you buy one?"

These JagStangs feel better with competition stripes!

Not sure if Kurt had a competition Mustang on his own collection.

Fender has recently added a pair of Sonic Youth Jazzmasters on its product catalog. Although Thurston Moore actually fools around Jaguars and Jazzmasters, he remains a notorious Mustang aficionado. He favoured a heavily customized Mustang with three Stratocaster single-coil pickups and a 3-way pickup selector.
