I just purchased a brand new Classic Player Jaguar® Special HH from a webshop and i have some issues with this guitar:

I could tell when I went from neck to bridge, or both, but when I used certain combinations, it cut the signal completely. I also don't entirely understand the upper roller wheels. From what I'm hearing they are suppose to be the rhythm tone and volume, yet when I messed around with them, I couldn't hear any difference... I'm think maybe it was faulty wiring, which I've heard some people complain about with this guitar...

Can anyone confirm this and what should i do?

thanks in advance!

gr. tony

Hey There Tonee. I purchased this model not too long ago. I played an original Jaguar for years that I purchased in 1965, so I knew immediately something was wrong with the switching schemes on my newest Jaguar.

My new Jaguar now works perfectly, but I had to resolder the internals to the correct switching scheme. If you go to the Fender guitar manuals section and call up the Classic Jaguar wiring schematic, you will see the old version of the correct wiring scheme. You may want to buy a .001 or .01 uF capacitor and connect it on the bass side of the tone control to ground adding a little more bass punch. Just a thought, depends on your ear and what you like playing.

The upper tone controls are volume (upper) and bass-treble (lower). These only work when you have the 'lead-rythym' switch in the 'up' position.

I wired the pickups in series since I play 1960's style of Jazz in the Kenny Burrell style. I like a more subdued sound. I have heard guitars in parallel pickup mode, but its all in what you like.

I also found that the neck is straight but the fret wire on the finger board is way too high. The notes are 'pulled' out of tune when you press down hard enough to touch the fingerboard. Also, the bridge doesn't have three dimensional adjustments thereby not allowing any fine tuning of each separate string. I am in the process of modifying these things now. I shall report on the results when I am done.

I play a 1980's model Strat that I modified to 'professional' standards and its a beaut !! I love that little guitar.

Good Luck ! Let me know what you did...
