I'm a newbie to the site.

I just received a Sonoran SCE Mustang Black Limited Edition of only 200 for my birthday to go with my 2003 Black Mustang Cobra.

First, I would like to know where on the Fender site I can find more info on the guitar, and how the electronics work. Can you play amplifed without a separate amp, or does the battery only power the built-in equalizer when connected to a stand-alone amp?

Next, I took guitar lessons in Jr. High, but would have rather been out running the bayous so I set it down. For the past few years, I've been regretting not learning and now that I just turned 46, I want to pick (no pun) it back up.

Also, a few years ago, I received in barter a Martin Sugar Ray Signature Edition, but now that I have a fender (no pun) to go with my car, I really want to re-learn. But I want to relearn my chords, notes, scales, etc before forking out bucks for lessons. So...does anyone know of any good online sites to learn the basics...I don't intend on going to far with the online solo lessons so I dont develop too many bad habits.

Your input will be greatly appreciated.

First, welcome to the Fender Forum. Second, congrats on you new guitar.

The Limited Editions mostly don't have a separate page, so one should look at the "normal" model - in your case I think that is the California Series Sonoran™ SCE Custom - http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0968026057

Next, the electronics on most acoustics are just pre-amps, ie, they need to be plugged into an amp.

As for on-line learning, there are many sites - I like Justin Sandercoe - http://justinguitar.com/ - but many others are devoted to just one or two kinds of music. Justin covers the basics and many intermediate/advanced topics.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the info and I'll check out your suggestions. I'm sure I'll be surfing this site to learn as much as possible, and one day, I'll be able to play.
