Though I am hugely disappointed that Fender gave the Duo-Sonic 50s reissue to Squier (aaaaaaaaaahhhhh! what were you thinking?!), I am considering buying one - especially since I have been trying to find an original Desert Sand/gold 'plate version for years.

I already have one of the red MiM Duo's from the mid-90s, which is a nice little guitar but somewhat lacking in the build-quality department (particularly the tuners and frets which are both quite poor). My question is this: how does the overall quality of the new Chinese-made Squier Duo compare to the MiM Duo, or other more recent MiM guitars? Is it worth buying? Does it need new tuners and/or pickups to bring it 'up to standard'?

All views gratefully received.

Thanks.
