There are two guitars with the starcaster name. The original starcaster from the late 70's was a hollow body guitar that has been discontinued and is hard to find. The new one, officially "Starcaster by Fender" is an inexpensive Stratocaster starter model available at Target, Costco, Best Buy, etc.

Which one are you referring to.

I have the newer one. It is cheap in price and quality. The pickups don't work on it any more and I've only had it for a year. It buzzes terribly too. However, it was my first guitar and it did it's job as a "learning" guitar. I should soon own an American Standard Tele. I'm hooked on Fender now. :D

That is how you connect it. You tie it on.

Thanks. I love it. It's a HSS, too, so it has great sound. It was $200, but it came with a bunch of crap.

I had a 2nd or 3rd hand Starcaster-i got it almost free-it had the big triangle headstock and for a cheap guitar it was a nice neck.I ended up upgrading the pickups, tuners and nut and sold it on ebay(I needed the money-otherwise i would have kept it)-it turned out to be a nice guitar.

Is the Starcaster (ex. the ones sold at Target) a scaled-down guitar?

Nice looking guitar. Wish Fender would put that finish on a Fender Stratocaster.
