Hi, i'm trying to retrieve some informations about my guitar.
It's a Strat HM n° F009084, so I guess it's made in Japan but, I can't find "made in Japan" printed anywhere. It has an Humbucker (I think DiMarzio) in bridge position and a Fender Lace Sensor Gold at neck.
On the hill it's got a Fender U.S.A. printed logo...
So I want to know: Is it american or japanese? How much does it worth?
What's the year of counstruction? Is it really a DiMarzio Humbucker? Which one?

Thanks a lot to every answer!!

Enrico

I saw one like that 16 or 17 years ago, I "think" that version with the headstock like that was a USA but don't quote me 100% :?

I have the 1989 Squier catolog and the MIJ and Squier MIK had a "Jackson" style headstock.

A bass player in my area had the Squier Bass version, It was a MIK

I am the proud owner of a 1990 HM Strat, and it is one of my all-time favorite guitats.
First off, the Hms were made in both Japan and the USA. It seems earlier model were Japanese(from about 1987-89) and later models were from USA (1990 till discontinued) From info I got from Fenders dating section on this site, mine is USA made. It originally came with a DiMarzio Super distortion bridge, and 2 singles. Your guitar has been customized with a Tele pickguard(not stock). There were various pickup configurations, but I have never seen one with a Tele pickguard. The earlier models came with a vintage style(smaller) Fender headstock, and later models came with a more Jackson-like pointy headstock. Mine came with a USA made Kahler Spyder locking tremelo as stock.
I have found that Fender is pretty good at indicating country of origin on guitars of this vintage, but the HM line seems to be an exception. You must compare your serial number to both the USA and Japan dating lists to see where your may be from. E series guitars are listed in both, but Japan is 1984-87 and USA is 1989-90 years of production. Have fun trying to research your guitar, and play the thang!!
